California Gun Grabbers at it again…

California Gun Grabbers at it again…

What we have here is the liberal mindset that believes GOVERNMENT agencies can protect you better than YOU can. Its a disease in the state of California. For those of you that don’t know I live in California. I am a very strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment right. I have gone out in public carrying my sidearm openly. I have NOT had an issue with LEO or Public when I did. But I live in a “Red” area. The people that are pushing Open Carry in this state chose to do it in San Francisco.

This particular video came from an incident in San Diego. Which is also a Red area for the most part. Watch the video please. My commentary will follow after the jump:

HT to the Daily Gator for the video:

California is closer to Europe than it is to Most of America. What has happened here over the last 50 years is criminal. Reagan in the 60’s did sign the “Mulford act” in response to the Black Panthers patrolling the neighborhood with guns. This was the first step in a long line of gun control issues here. Since then California has become one of the least Gun Friendly states in the nation and with that came one of the highest crime rates. Unintended Consequences or willful ignorance is up for debate.

A few thoughts on Open Carry Unloaded:

    • 1. I don’t like Open Carry as much as Concealed Carry. Open carry does a couple of negative things. The biggest negative is it takes away any surprise aspect if you find yourself in a bad situation. It also makes you the first target in that situation. Open Carry Unloaded is almost as bad in that regard as being unarmed. IF you find yourself in a bad situation where force is needed, the criminal not only will target you, but it also gives him/her more time to do it since you have to insert/rack your firearm before use.

    • 2. Open Carry is better than NO CARRY. That’s a fact. But it requires you to do a lot more than just carry and hope. For you to be a ready at all times Open Carry/Unloaded you better have practiced several scenarios such as cover, loading, preparation and be able to shoot the nuts off a gnat with either hand. There’s more training you should have done before even thinking about taking the firearm out for a stroll on your hip around California. One of the standard lines around here is:IF my only option is Open then that’s how I’ll do it. I’ll do other things to mitigate my survival in a bad situation.

    • 3. California’s entire leadership has security who are armed. All of them are afforded some type of security that WE THE PEOPLE are not. And they are afforded that security by OUR Taxes.

    • 4. California is getting a lot of attention over gun rights now since the Heller ruling. More and more GUN OWNERS are getting engaged and that’s a good thing.

    • 5. The shooting of Giffords in AZ has ginned up the gun grabbers urge to disarm the public, but the riots in Philly and London have shut them up.

Let’s take a look at a few other states in the nation.

Starting with Texas (Thanks to my buddy Texasfred for his help with this part)

1. Texas is not an OPEN CARRY State. You can’t as most folks believe carry openly in Texas.

Texas is a “Shall Issue” state meaning there are some requirements to fulfill before you can carry your sidearm Concealed.

Arizona: Arizona has the best Gun Laws in the nation regarding the 2nd Amendment. Open or Concealed Carry NO permit necessary. Once you cross the border if you are not banned from firearms due to a FELONY and are an American Citizen. YOU can possess your firearm in a loaded state how ever you wish. Arizona is the model of gun law that MOST FREEDOM LOVING AMERICANS want their state to adopt.

The crime rate in AZ and TEXAS are very similar. California has WORSE stats than both of these states. You can google crime rates and break them down how ever you like. But you can not argue with logic.

Logic and common sense tells you:

An armed man is more likely to survive during a life or death incident involving a criminal act than an unarmed man. IF you don’t believe that then there is no hope for you. IF you say it depends on the situation then that’s where Concealed Carry is the best option. That makes it YOUR choice to pull it or leave it holstered. That one choice leaves YOU in control, not the criminal. You have the option of cowering in a corner begging for your life or pulling the weapon out and changing the conversation.

California has gone the complete opposite of what our founders envisioned for this nation. California still has the right to have guns in your home. California is a state where you can purchase a firearm under some very strict regulations that criminals don’t follow.

California also limits the amount of ammo your firearm can hold and California has straight out bans on certain firearms, that are readily available right over the border in AZ.

This post is a rant against the leaders of “The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia” but it is also a plea for help. Many of us are fighting a losing battle but we are still fighting. IF you are happy with your states “Gun Laws” please consider helping some of us behind enemy lines change ours. I am in the fight to change the law and could use all the help I can get.

Gun Owners of California is on the front lines.

  1. Open Carry UNLOADED is the dumbest POS law I have ever heard of… Might as well carry a baseball bat…

Open carry in and of itself is awesome, I carried openly, for duty and *other* scenarios for years and never had a problem, but I didn’t let myself fall into a pattern that would cause me trouble…

If I try to conceal this XD-45 I am carrying plainly under cover… LMAO… But the message IS there, don’t fuck with the old fat guy, he has a BFG under that shirt…

    1. Okay Fred “Open Carry UNLOADED is the dumbest POS law I have ever heard of.” perhaps you didn’t see the part where it says CALIFORNIA? Dumbest POS laws are dime a dozen here brother… LMAO.

Open Carry is fine Fred as long as it’s coupled with the right to carry concealed. Open carry only is not good IMO. The reason is it makes you the first target in a bad situation. IF there’s dual rights, then there’s the “Ok he’s carrying, but she might be too and him and the old man in chair”…

When you are a law abiding citizen laws matter. IF you aren’t they don’t. The reason we fight for gun rights is because WE try and obey the law. At least until lawlessness rules the day. I’m betting the folks in Philly and London are wishing they had Texas/AZ gun laws rather than what they got.
