11-11-11 Veterans Day Salute

11-11-11 Veterans Day Salute

To all who have served in the armed forces of the greatest nation the world has ever known.

THANK YOU.

It’s the Soldier, not the reporter
who has given us the freedom of the press.

It’s the Soldier, not the poet,
who has given us the freedom of speech.

It’s the Soldier, not the politicians
that ensures our right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

It’s the Soldier who salutes the flag,
who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag.

If you can read this – thank a teacher!
If you are reading it in English – thank a veteran!

On this veterans day, remember those who gave a good part of their lives in service. No matter what they are doing now, at one point they risked it all for US.

Thank you from my entire family.

  1. On november 11,1918,at 1100AM the World War 1 came to an end but not before the famous hero General “Black Jack” Pershing order his font line troops to charge the German lines even though everyone knew the war would end at 11AM. Hundreds of American,British, and German troops died…….for nothing..just so ol Black Jack could prove a point. We don’t see this massacre mentioned in the history books.

    1. Okay Ceefour, that’s an actual event. However you forgot to mention the reason Pershing did what he did. HE supported the commanders who wanted to take the town. He also felt the armistice was TOO SOFT and would eventually lead to another Germany fought war. He felt they should be dealt a MAJOR defeat to make them think twice about going on the offensive again. Mmmm, perhaps Ol Black Jack was RIGHT!

Yes a lot of lives were loss needlessly (according to some) but the same could be said for the passivity that was undertook at the time. As always history is repeating itself.

  2. Well I guess ol BJ was right in doing what he did..we all know that after WW1 Germany was the eternal pussycat. At any rate the NOK appreciated the idea behind the slaughter. War is hell…so they say
