United Auto Workers Lash Out at GOP Senators Over Bailout Collapse
The president of the United Auto Workers union accuses Senate Republicans of thwarting the $14 billion auto rescue package.

The head of the United Auto Workers union lashed out Friday at Senate Republicans — Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker, in particular — blaming them for scuttling the $14 billion auto bailout package approved earlier in the week by the House.

GOP objections stalled the measure in the Senate Thursday night. Republicans put  pressure on the powerful autoworkers union as they tried to squeeze out concessions in exchange for their support.

“This was just simply subterfuge on the part of the minority in the Republican Party who wanted to tear down any agreement that we came up with,” UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said at a press conference, declaring “the auto industry around the world is in peril.”

Intense negotiations broke down over the union’s refusal to meet GOP demands for wage cuts. Corker, the architect of the Republican counterproposal to the House-approved bill, told FOX News that negotiators were “just three words away from a deal.”

Let me see if I have this straight; The GOP demanded some concessions from the union in hopes that a restructuring and retooling for a more competitive environment that would make it possible for US to get OUR MONEY BACK,  the UNION refused so they can be BANKRUPT and unemployed if the bailout fails?

Well never let it be said that intelligence is extinct in the U.S of A.

Look I am a worker just like anyone else, I work for someone else, I have worked very hard to get where I am and I am comfortable with my position. I wouldn’t take a substantial pay cut and keep my job very long, I would however , take a pay cut and then LOOK for another JOB ASAP!… These UAW folks are about to lose a job and be without ANYTHING because THEY refuse to see what the rest of the world see’s GREED, and failure to recognize business realities. See ya on the bread lines.

  1. Yeah Sarge, it’s kind of like the GAY and Lesbian nutbaskets, they lost the gay marriage propositions because of the Black and Latino population, but they blamed the Mormons.. It’s easy to blame those least likely to fight back, soon though these morons will see some fight from the Conservatives.

  2. The union is EXACTLY like the mob. They use extortion to force a business into what they believe should be paid etc.

No business should EVER offer health… they pay you a wage, you shop and buy your own food, insurance etc. Competition keeps wages in check. The union kills a company and drives up the cost of goods making a business unable to compete.

Let the big three fail. They will restart again without the union/involved.

    Understand?
