Today was a Great day!

Today was a Great day!

Today we went hiking with Sue and her son.

Sue is the owner of Warriors for Innocence we have talked on the phone, emailed and exchanged comments on blogs for over a year, finally we were able to meet in person. She is a very driven person and a good friend, I am sure her brother Jarhead John from Write on the Right is damn proud of her. She is doing a hell of a job in her efforts and she is making a difference on this planet.

Sue and my wife hit it off straight away, I figure I won’t see my wife too much anymore, she will be off hiking with Sue.

We hiked in the San Gorgonio Wilderness area, more specifically the Johns Meadow trail. The trail is 4 miles up and 4 miles back, the start of the trail is very steep, but it levels out and offers even ups and downs the rest of the way. The scenery was fantastic and frankly I am a bit ashamed that we haven’t done this type of thing sooner.

Even though right now, I am not thinking very fondly of Sue (We are a little sore right now because SUE IS EVIL!) I really enjoyed the hike and truth be told I could use a pushing once in a while LOL.

Thanks for a great Day Sue and Son. We look forward to doing it again real soon.

  1. Hey, I had a blast!! I’m glad we could get together and finally put in a few miles. Rest up, I’ll be planning another trek soon! 😉

  2. @Sues: YOU ARE AN EVIL WOMAN!!! I am sitting here with frozen peas on my knees, and hot compress on my back… THANKS SUE!

    cryin

Actually Sue, I don’t feel as bad as I thought I would. Thanks for a great day again. Plan a way dear.

  3. LOL. such a whiner!! he, he, he. Just wait until tomorrow morning- that’s when the real pain will hit!

  4. @Sues: Well what is pissing me off is Deb is fine, she’s going to walk the dogs and she’s been cleaning the house since we got home… Damn, I feel old LMAO

  5. Ok…now for the absolute very first time in my life, I want to go see California… what with you, the wife, Sues and BZ out there having a grand time, it can’t be as scary as I thought !
Glad y’all had a great time.

  6. Not without the Gawfer family you won’t!

OK, so you’re one up on the Gawfer meeting Sues and all, but I’ll be catching up soon.

Yeah Jo, there are a few of us out here in Mexifornia. It really is a beautiful state with a wonderful climate… that attracts 75% of the nation’s asshats. There’s lots to do and see if you can stomach them.

  7. @TexasFred: and that is the truth… although traffic is thinning (no Jobs does that) and housing cost is coming down, everything else is going up here too.

  8. Ahh, I think the reason traffic is thinning is because where else in these great ’57’ states can a man pay $5. a gallon for gas?

The Metrolink is getting a workout; but not to be left behind, they’ve increased their rates as well.

As far as employment goes, I know the residential construction market has tanked; in fact, brand new developments are being auctioned off here in my neck of the woods. But overall, construction is nearly at full employment.

It’s so full in fact, we are being quite judicious in our bidding, and only going after work we can man. I was scheduled to walk a job in Blythe this morning, but was canceled because of lack of man power… besides, who the heck would wanna work out there this time of year anyway? 120°+

  9. @Gawfer: Well considering roughly half the California population is ILLEGAL I don’t know anyone that would work in that heat, LOL see this banner:

    Illegalworks

Well some folks are working others aren’t I think Cali will weather the storm of recession better than most states.

  10. Yeah how you doin’ up there BZ???

That’s so cool Robert. I got to meet Kris really quick on Sunday. She called super last minute and we hooked up for a burrito. She says to give you guys all a big hug! So we’ll all have to get together!

  11. @Jenn: I had a great blog vacation I met Gawfer (Again) but I met his wife too, and then met Sue and her son… BUT; It was a lot easier meeting Gawfer and his wife, I had to hike 8 miles to meet Sue… sigh and I’m feelin it now! LOL it was a blast though and we are already in the planning stages of the next one.

  12. Great photos and story to boot Robert. About forty or so years ago I spent a week in that area while on an outing with the Devil Pups. We went from Berdoo pass to San Jacinto and it was something that I will never forget. Old … LMAO!

  13. @Patrick Sperry: Yeah I have been up in our local mountains, but I really never went deep into the woods, or off the “path” so to speak, We usually do that on our national park visits. I will be visiting some of the more local area in the near future.. Yeah I feel old.
