Former Marine’s actions under fire.

PLANTATION, Fla. — The family of one of the men who was shot by a retired United States Marine while they attempted to rob a Subway sandwich shop said the customer shouldn’t have pulled the trigger.

According to Plantation police, two armed men barged into the Subway at 1949 Pine Island Road shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday, demanding money from the employee behind the counter. When they tried to force John Lovell into the bathroom, he pulled out a gun and shot both men, police said.

Donicio Arrindell, 22, was shot in the head and later died at the hospital. Fredrick Gadson, 21, was shot in the chest and ran from the Subway, but police found him in hiding in some bushes on the property of a nearby BankAtlantic.

Lovell, 71, was the lone customer at the time. Police said he had a concealed weapons permit.

Gadson’s grandparents told Local 10 on Thursday that Lovell was wrong for pulling the trigger.

Tough shit woman your son was a thief

Rosa Jones says a retired Marine shouldn’t have shot her grandson while they attempted to rob a Subway sandwich shop.

Her husband, Ivory Jones, also condemned the media for its portrayal of Lovell’s actions.

“I don’t condone what they did, (but) I definitely don’t condone the news people making him out to seem like they’re making a hero out of this man because he shot somebody down,” he said.

But Lovell’s neighbor said he made the right decision.

“He did the right thing,” said Wendi Hill. “I mean, I was glad that it was them that got shot and not him.”

Police said Lovell, a retired Marine, wouldn’t be charged.

I found the article at Basti Says, and I couldn’t believe the audacity of the media and the criminals parents.
This should be front page news, the headline should be “THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SAVING PROPERTY AND LIVES!” There should be a medal handed out to the Former Marine for his bravery and willingness to get involved. BUT not in our country and not at this time in our “evolution”.

We hear this instead of holding the Marine up for accolades, “He shouldn’t have pulled the trigger” Now if the two innocent criminals gone in to the Subway and killed the kids behind the counter for 20 bucks then what? oh, then it would have been our education system broke down, or the poor parents were working for the white man or what not… Screw it, the sons of bitches got what they deserved and my only hope is that the Former Marine pissed on the bastards before the cops got there.

  1. Now THIS is what I call a good use of a CHL and some common sense…

Oh course a 71 year old former Marine was WRONG, he was WHITE and he shot two black thugs, hell yeah he was wrong…

He was wrong for not putting more rounds into the asshole that ran away, BEFORE he ran, thus eliminating the need for the manhunt…

  2. Too bad the adults in these thugs life couldn’t just say ” hey, we are sorry they weren’t raised right “.
A few more instances like this and law abiding citizens may well have a chance. Just imagine..a rotten thief thinking “hmmm…this might get me killed, I’d best rethink “.
Won’t ever happen, but I am glad that decent citizens are shooting back. Or first.

  3. Well, nothing yet…I’ve just always wanted to marry a Marine, he’s the right age, and knows how to shoot well..what else could a broad ask for ?

  4. I actually saw that news report here in Tampa (Plantation is not that far from here) – I was absolutely amazed at the way the media portrayed that whole incidence. The man deserves a medal and those thugs deserve what they got.

Excellent commentary, Robert! The libs and the MSM just don’t get it.

  5. I read about this… it’s always bad when someone dies, but when you are committing a crime, you are asking for it.

I’m proud of the Marine for his actions.

  6. @bigdadgib: I don’t know if I would call it bad when some folks die… Some folks just need killin. (in my best Clint Eastwood voice)
This was a clear cut case FOR the CCW program, we should make the test hard, we should make folks take safety courses, we should do background checks and if you pass all of that you should be able to carry a firearm ANYWHERE you feel it necessary.

Gun free zones are also known as Kill zones for those that don’t obey the law.

  7. Perfectly legitimate use of the concealed weapon – the Marine was in danger of his life, being pushed around by a punk with a gun!

He is a hero, and like Jo said, he should be getting apologies from the punk’s families for raising two criminals.

Liberals are gonna have a field day with this…

A similar robbery to this took place here in Phoenix, but there was no Mr. Lovell involved; the two high-school Subway employees were shot and killed. The perps were eventually caught, and await final sentencing, but Mr. Lovell pretty much eliminated the whole judicial system by defending himself.

    Ooh-Rah to Mr. Lovell.

  8. @cary – Botan Ichihara: That was kind of the point of my commentary, although a little more colorful. There is no justice for those at work that are killed by those that don’t work. Those that have made a decision to make crime a career, and take life for property and treasure, continue to do that because WE as a country do not punish those slugs properly. This Particular Marine did exactly what he should have done.

A Weapon in the hands of a person that is not afraid to get involved is better than a group of robe wearing elitists sitting in judgment.

  9. so the deceased perp’s family is whining because sonny got killed trying to make a payday by robbing people who work for their living. sin loi, that’s what happens when a thief runs up against an honest man taking care of business, darwin rules.
