Democrat Congress GOT Richer, We got Poorer.

Democrat Congress GOT Richer, We got Poorer.

Lets see, in 2006 WE the People elected a MAJORITY Democrat Congress and Senate based on “CHANGE”  based on “WE ARE GOING TO BE THE MOST ETHICAL CONGRESS EVER” and “We are going to fix Bush’s mess”….

Since 2006 we have an economic disaster, we have had the “GOVERNMENT” bail out the “FAT CATS” and we have had the GOVERNMENT infringe on more rights than ever. We have had scandal upon scandal on both sides of the aisle…WE have seen absolutely NOTHING from the Democrat congress in the way of BETTERING the people they were elected to serve.. BUT that didn’t stop them from getting RICHER.

Tough times: Congress grew 13 percent richer in 2007

WASHINGTON — Times are tough, but don’t worry about most members of Congress making ends meet.

Their collective wealth grew by 13 percent last year, leaving them in better shape than most Americans to make it through an economic downturn, according to a new analysis of personal financial reports.

Overall, nearly two of every three senators are millionaires. That includes presidential candidates Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. In the House, 39 percent of all members belong to the exclusive club.

Only 1 percent of all Americans are considered millionaires.

“With a median net worth of $746,000, most members of Congress have a comfortable financial cushion to ride out any recession,” said Sheila Krumholz, executive director of the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, which conducted the study.

In the House of Representatives, Rep. Jane Harman, D-Calif., ranks No. 1, with $397 million, followed by Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., with $343 million. Rep Robin Hayes, R-N.C., ranks third, with $173.4 million. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., ranks sixth, with $62 million.

In the Senate, the two Democrats from Massachusetts claimed two of the top three spots.

Sen. John Kerry led the pack, with $336 million, while Sen. Edward M. Kennedy ranked third, with $104 million. Sen. Herb Kohl, D-Wis., ranked second, with $241.5 million. Overall, senators had a median net worth estimated at $1.7 million.

The 535 members of Congress, who earn average annual salaries of $169,000 and receive cost-of-living pay increases, had a total net worth of $3.7 billion last year. Although some are likely to take a hit from Wall Street’s woes, their average net worth soared by 61 percent from 2004 to 2007.

However, not all members are wealthy and some appear to be bankrupt. The study found that 16 House members and three senators had an average net worth of less than zero.

Obama ranked as one of the biggest financial winners, with his net worth increasing from $800,000 in 2006 to $4.7 million last year, thanks mainly to royalties from his two best-selling books. McCain had a net worth estimated at $28.5 million, with most of the wealth attributed to his wife Cindy’s family fortune.

Funny how I don’t see Palin’s name anywhere on the top 200 list of richest elected officials….Funny in a SAD way.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am a CAPITALIST. I believe people should be paid what they are worth, I believe if you offer a service that no one else can provide you can set your price. I ALSO believe if you are hired to do a job, and you do not perform that job, YOU should be fired. Unfortunately most of our society does not see it that way, we keep electing the same idiots for the same job no matter how bad they perform. LOOK at Massachusetts, neither of those douchebags have done anything other than drag the moral compass of our nation down the drain and they are the RICHEST Career Politicians EVER..

I look at John McCain and see his riches are from his marriage, I look at Obama whose riches came from so called “Royalties” but I ask myself, would those “Royalties” would be that high if HE WASN’T spending his time running for president? I think not. I also beleive a large part of the “Royalties” are actually campaign contributions from undesirable donaters… (My opinion of course)

The fact is MOST of the DEMOCRAT leadership are LAWYERS, LAWYERS make a lot of money, the next step in a LAWYERS life is Congress these days.. The reason is simple: Lawyers spend their life screwing individuals or companies out of money, in order to get a bigger VICTIM pool they need MORE exposure.. HELLO CONGRESS!!!!

You really want to fix this country? Seriously want to do something that makes sense? VOTE NO LAWYERS to Congress.. IF your congress critter is or ever was a LAWYER, GET THAT PERSON OUT!

Time to elect folks that are truly FOR THE PEOPLE! Lawyers today are not like our forefathers, they are parasites and we are out of blood.
NO LAWYERS IN 08.

Yes on 8

  1. I love the Prop 8 Logo, how in the hell can ANYONE condone these bone smokers getting married and validating them like they were NORMAL people??

Sucking DICK is not NORMAL if you have one, that might be why it’s called being a f**king QUEER!!

  2. That is one kewl logo ! I hope your state is able to keep marriage as God intended….one man, one woman.
Although I realize more and more states are being bullied in to accepting homosexual rights, this could hopefully slow it down a bit. :hole:

  3. @jo: You know I have serious doubts that we will be able to stop the butt pirates and clam bumpers from gaining the right to ruin marriage. AS soon as it passes I think I will try to marry my dogs cause vet care is getting expensive and then I can put them on my HC plan…. I am really hating this state.

  4. Hate breeds hate. Ignorance breeds ignorance. We are all God’s children. Let’s try to live together in peace and harmony.

  5. @Mary: Umm Mary, how long do you get kicked in the teeth before you open up a can of whoopass? Personally that time past about 2 years ago.
