Cop Haters- Listen up!

Cop Haters- Listen up!

I’ve been reading a lot of posts lately. Sometimes I comment, sometimes I just shake my head and move on. I’m not interested in a pissing match over who’s a patriot and who isn’t. I’m just going to point out a few truths.

The 2nd amendment fight we’re in involves ALL Americans. Your average cop is an American just like you and I. Your average cop has a family and friends just like we do. Your average cop is a working man, just like you or I…

A cop on the street isn’t the least bit concerned what you have in your closet/safe/under your pillow or whatever. The average cop isn’t concerned with you at all as long as you are not a danger to others. A cop has the same rights as you do, he can ask questions of you just like you can ask questions of people you see on the street. The difference is a cops badge gives them a right to expect an answer whereas you may get punched in the face for asking.

A cop isn’t going to arbitrarily pick your house for a search and seizure. That order must come from above. The order that says COPS MAY ENTER YOUR RESIDENCE comes from a judge. The cops that will execute that order have very little say so in it. IF the warrant says “Extremely dangerous and Armed” it’s pretty likely that you will see heavy armor outside your door. But the cops executing the warrant can’t question it at the time any more than YOU the target can.

This is why I don’t subscribe to the “Cops are bad” philosophy. Judges issue warrants based on info obtained by detectives/CI’s and or whatever “Legal” way is relevant. IF the warrant was signed based on ILLEGAL means, odds are you never make it to court. A cop has as much chance of arguing the validity of a warrant before being dispatched to serve it as you do when the knock comes. Your average cop has to trust the system that is in place and must execute the warrant with his safety first and foremost. AS WOULD ANYONE!

I would also like to remind the “Cop haters” that a very large portion of cops are preppers in the truest form. They see the STUPID every day and they see exactly what this society is headed towards. The COPS you hate now should the shit truly hit the fan may be your best ally.

All that said, I don’t expect that the cop haters would read this and change their opinions, but I had to try.

War on Cops?

War on Cops?

Seems some folks have the opinion that cops are the bad guys. Uniforms/tactical/badges/no badges/ whatever. And to me there’s enough bad cops out there to elicit that opinion from some. I can not support anyone who seriously believes ALL COPS are bad. The Law Enforcement community has earned a lot of the bad rap they get I’ll grant you that. But and this is where I have to draw the line. There are plenty of the boys in blue who are not the bad guys.

I have many LEO’s in my life. From uncles, to cousins and I lost a cousin in the line of duty. LEO’s have been from my experiences in the past 20 plus years, terrific public servants. Prior to those 20 years though, I had some serious issues with them…

I want people to know a couple things.

1. I am NOT Anti-Police in any way shape or form.

2. I am ANTI-ABUSE OF AUTHORITY.

3. I am ANTI-DUMBASS, Badge or no badge.

4. I alone will decide WHO I associate with. LEO or otherwise.

5. If I come upon an officer in need, odds are I’m helping them. Since when trouble arises, they are the first ones to show up for people who call.

6. A LEO is a human being. Therefor is faulty. Decisions made by one officer during contact doesn’t mean he’s an asshole. He could have just got done dealing with OTHER assholes and it may have rubbed off.

7. Respect for a LEO doesn’t mean you “Worship” or “Kneel in front of” them. It means you handle yourself with them as you would expect them to handle themselves. You try not to cuss first, you try to say sir, you try not to use terms like “Pig” “Screw” or “whatever”…. IF they pull you over, maybe there was a reason, if not you should win in court. The Cop on patrol is just a reporter, if he/she decides to ticket you it’s their call, it’s YOUR call to fight it in court.

8. LEO’s have families, friends and they deserve to go back home from a days work just like you. It was a career choice for them and they have a tough enough job without being hated for what SOME OTHER cop did to you.

I hope that this lays it out where I stand on the issue. IF you have any questions about it, feel free to ask. I may actually answer it.

Vigilante’s vs Neighborhood Security…

Vigilante’s vs Neighborhood Security…

My wife calls me “Her Redneck Vigilante”.. A term of endearment. I am very active in the neighborhood watch program, and I am also one that takes NO CRAP from the hood dwellers that think they own MY neighborhood. I can get pretty confrontational about things like graffiti, vandalism, robbery’s, car thefts and pretty much ANYTHING to do with the gangbanging POS’s that seem to be cropping up around here.

Let me first layout some definitions:

1) A vigilante is a private individual who illegally punishes an alleged lawbreaker, or participates in a group which metes out extralegal punishment to an alleged lawbreaker

2) Members of neighborhood watch programs and others who use legal means of bringing people to justice are not considered vigilantes.

While I have NO problem confronting ANY tagger (s) when I catch them, and I have no problem holding them until the PD arrive, nor do I have any problem doing recon and investigations and relaying my findings on to some good folks in LE. I do not engage in any vigilante type actions.(I do however retain the right to my self defense and I take that part very serious)

As I have heard in several interviews of people by the media, the term “VIGILANTE” is usually used by media types. Either to pin the label on the good guy, or to allow them to deny it. It usually occurs after an incident involving self defense, home defense or an interdiction into a crime by a citizen that results in the demise or injury of a criminal.

A person that goes out LOOKING for nefarious actions in and around his/her domicile and calls the cops if/when it is noticed, IS NOT a vigilante. That would be called a helpful eye on the area and will result in a very good relationship with local law enforcement IF it is done correctly. (Not calling the cops for every little petty thing or bugging them for stupid stuff)

A person that goes out looking for nefarious actions and takes action in physical form against those he/she spots without alerting police will result in poor relationship with PD and possibly law suits.

I take my neighborhood watch responsibility very serious. I am an able body man, with a fairly large skill set. I can do things the cops don’t have the manpower to do. I can be involved without being physical and I can affect a POSITIVE change for my neighborhood.

I am not alone either. There are several of us that have our eyes open. We in California are in a rock and a hard spot. We live here, we pay taxes here, we the right to be safe here and we have the right to NOT be vandalized, robbed, or threatened… We hold the key.

Now all that being said, I would gladly accept the role of INTERROGATOR if my local PD would care to drop one of the morons they catch that won’t talk at my house.. I’ll make em talk, I guarantee….

I bring this topic up because of this interview of a man that shot and killed a home invader.

I can’t embed the video so here’s the link to “Front Sight” that has both the video and the DA’s video.

If you notice in that interview the man had to defend against the accusation of “Vigilante” although he was in his own house. WTF? This is the age of media we are in.

Personally I think with all the budget cuts to our PD’s across the nation, and the revolving doors on our prison system perhaps a few vigilante’s are what’s needed. We may have to get Charles Bronson out of retirement soon if the idiots in government keep taking cops off the street to pay for slugs and drug addicts…

Anyway, wish us luck around here. The economy is starting to show it’s demise of society. People around here are becoming desperate and crime stats are going up accordingly. Our Officers in blue are doing what they can but they are far outnumbered….

Merry Christmas
