Schwarzenegger tells backers of gay marriage: Don’t give up

The governor expresses hope that Proposition 8 would be overturned as protesters continued to march outside churches across California.

Reporting from Sacramento and Lake Forest — Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Sunday expressed hope that the California Supreme Court would overturn Proposition 8, the ballot initiative that outlawed same-sex marriage. He also predicted that the 18,000 gay and lesbian couples who have already wed would not see their marriages nullified by the initiative.

“It’s unfortunate, obviously, but it’s not the end,” Schwarzenegger said in an interview Sunday on CNN. “I think that we will again maybe undo that, if the court is willing to do that, and then move forward from there and again lead in that area.”

So now we have the media, Jerry Brown and the “Governator” all voicing opposition to the will of the people.

Why is it that all of these liberal idiots are so happy about the presidential election, because that went their way, but Prop 8 needs to be overturned? What if 48% of America took to the streets and demanded Obama be removed because WE DON’T LIKE IT?

I think it’s time we let The Governator, and Jerry Brown know that WE THE PEOPLE voted and we expect that vote to be upheld.

  5. Is the will of a majority always a good thing? The vast majority of people in some states used to support strict segregation and the outlawing of “mixed marriages”.

    It took “liberal” courts to “interpret” the U.S. constitution to say that those laws were unconstituional because they did not offer equal protection under the law.

    The majority of people on this planet are not Christians… would you want a majority to rule on whether or not to allow that religion?

    I just do not understand this mob mentality. Why do we want to prevent those people from getting married? Does it really hurt us?

  7. @Peter: In this particular case the will of the people is a GOOD thing. Here’s the reason and it can’t be argued:
    When a man and woman MARRY they can create life. That is what GOD intended and that is what SOCIETY NEEDS to grow. As soon as a Man and Man or woman and woman can CREATE Life, then maybe we can say marriage is a human rights issue. UNTIL then there is a difference and you idiots are pissing in the wind.
