The Nuclear Option for Obama.

The Nuclear Option for Obama.

It appears that Collin Powell might endorse Obama?

Sources say former Secretary of State Colin Powell will endorse Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention, Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol told FOX News exclusively on Thursday.

“He may well give a speech at the Democratic convention explaining his endorsement of Obama,” Kristol said, citing inside sources.

“This is not an absolute done deal, but these people are very confident that Powell will endorse Obama,” Kristol said, adding that he thinks Powell still has “a high respect” for John McCain, Obama’s Republican rival.

Powell spokeswoman Peggy Cifrino strongly denied the report.

“There’s absolutely no truth to it whatsoever,” Cifrino told FOXNews.com. “Colin Powell will not be at either convention. There’s absolutely no truth to this.”

An endorsement by Powell could go a long way to attracting moderates and wayward Republicans to the presumptive Democratic presidential candidate. The Rest Here

If you think Powell Endorsing Obama wouldn’t hurt McCain’s chances.. THINK again.

I think this would be the Obama camps “Nuclear Option” IF they get backed into a corner, the Powell factor will come to the forefront.

My reason is this: IF Powell endorses Obama I might even vote for him, and so would EVERY Black person in the country, as well as every free thinking American that isn’t a “party above country” person. On the contrary, if Powell endorsed McCain I would feel a LITTLE bit better if I had to vote for McCain. Powell being involved in this fight is not a good thing either way IMO.
IF Powell stays on the sidelines he is basically saying “Either one of these guys are ok with me” in which case Obama gains the upper hand, if Powell throws his support behind Obama, Obama becomes President. UNLESS Powell comes out and supports McCain with full fan fare, McCain probably won’t win.

IF Powell decided to run for President I’d vote for him. IF Powell decided to become McCain’s running mate, I’d feel a lot better about voting for McCain.

In conclusion, I think Powell is the gate keeper, he is holding all the keys and if he waits till late October, then spouts “I am supporting Obama” get ready for 4 years of Liberal leadership. Oh and it will be a clean sweep, it will be the congress too, that endorsement of an UBER liberal president, will trickle down to the senate and house.

Powell has an entire nations respect, Powell is the one that should be running for President.

In My Opinion of course.

  1. Colin Powell SHOULD be the one, I have to agree, he’d be better than the 2 current candidates put together…

But I also must say this, politics being what it is, IF Powell were to somehow endorse Obama, Powell’s level of respect will go to ZERO in my estimation…

I have NO use for Obama or anyone that would support him..

  2. I respect Powell now, and if he decided to support Obama, it would give me cause to pause so to speak. I guess I shouldn’t say “I would even vote for him” I wouldn’t, What I meant was that “wrinkle in the sheets” would cause a lot of problems for McCain.
I could never vote for a liberal like Obama, but I could support Collin Powell, if he ran for Pres or if he was on the ticket of one or the other….IF he threw his support behind Obama there would be two reasons IMO. Either the “Color” thing or HE actually believed Obama was better for the country.

I would have a hard time dropping Powells respect level to zero because he supported Obama. I will say he would cement the Obama Presidency.

  3. Yeah, under nearly ALL conditions, I could support Powell, but an endorsement of Obama would be a total deal breaker… For me anyway…

  4. I agree with you on the influence Powell has. Personally, I could care less about who endorsed who. I just vote based on which candidate I think would make the best be the lesser of two evils. Unfortunately, the sheep out there have to have someone to follow and will always feel better if they vote base on someone’s endorsement.

  5. I have always said that I wanted a Military person to run this year, to me McCain is not that person.

Maybe it’s time to have a President that wants to win these wars we’re in, like JFK, FDR and Truman. I can’t remember any Republican Presidents winning any wars, maybe I’m wrong. I do however remember Democratic Presidents kicking ass and I mean kicking ass.

If Powell throws his support behind Obama, I have to say I may just do the same. I can’t beleive I’m writing this.

McCain is an old fart and a member of the old fart party, he’s a 100 year old GWB, old school.

What the hell, I’m ready for something new, it will be good blogging.

  6. I agree with you on Powell’s level of influence, however, if he were to endorse Obama, I would start to think about what horrible force pushed him to do it.

  7. I would vote for Powell in a heartbeat…but endorsing the uber liberal Obamaessiah is a deal breaker. How the hell can he endorse someone that embraces everything he is against..that would make him an all out liar in my book.

  8. I have little political respect for Powell any more, and I don’t believe he’ll contribute much to Obama should he decide to be officially associated with him. The bulk of black voters, for example, already classify Powell as a “sell-out” and a portion of the Left view Powell, particularly in light of his having trotted out a PowerPoint presentation at the beginning of the Gulf War, in support of entry into Iraq, as a puppet of Bush.

Colin Powell may have been a glorious leader in the military, but he leaves me quite tepid these days. I don’t believe he’ll be the X-Factor to Obama’s campaign. And under no circumstance will I decide to vote for Obama, no matter the stunt — and trust me, they’ll all be stunts at this point; smoke and mirrors, heralding trumpets, velvet gloves, psilocybin for the masses.

    BZ

  9. @Bloviating Zeppelin: ya got a point BZ, oh and you never cease to amaze and confuse me…
psilocybin, my Dictionary crashed when I put that in there… LOL

  10. @Ranando: Well I never trust too many polls. But I would imagine if I was in the military, and was on KP or latrine duty and a person asked me who I was going to vote for, it wouldn’t be the guy that is going to keep in that position.

  11. I don’t view Powell as being any better than McCain. After reading his book, it became clear that his military career was pretty thin when it came to actual command…mostly staff jobs. Then, he made it extremely clear that he supports the victimhood approach to social programs and handouts.

If he chooses to sit on the sidelines, I wouldn’t view that as him “approving” of both candidates, I would view that as him sharing the same opinion as most of us have: Both of these candidates suck.

  12. @Just John: Now JJ don’t sound so optimistic ok? LMAO

Yep BOTH of these idiots running for President need to be replaced. I would honestly support a grassroots movement that aimed to remove both of them for a lack of confidence. It would take a lot of cash, it would take a lot of publicity and it would take more than a Blogger or two supporting a “None of the Above” blogroll. I am sick of the whole thing myself JJ, but we have little choice until the bullets start flying.

I offered up a post not long ago about cigs being outlawed in some part of Cali, some folks told me it was ok because they didn’t smoke, I talked about cell phone restrictions, some folks said that was ok because they didn’t use cell phones…. What we are getting for remaining silent on issues that don’t affect us individually is McCain and Obama. The reason these two are in the position they are in is because WE didn’t stand up long ago for things that didn’t affect us, or that didn’t matter to us…We got complacent We got ignorant and we are getting what we deserve… Piss poor leadership.

I am not saying it’s because of cigs or cell phones only it’s a culmination of rights being lost, the gun regs, the voting, campaign finance, amnesty in the 80’s and trusting the government would secure the border, it has been happening for a while and the rubber is meeting the road NOW because no matter what choice we make in Nov. We as a nation are NOT going to be better off than we were with Bush.
