Russia Threatens AGAIN

Russia Threatens AGAIN

Cross us and we will crush you, warns Medvedev

Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian President, today promised a “shattering” blow against any foreign power that moved against Russian citizens.

The threat will compound the fears of former Soviet states which are concerned that they could be next after the Russian attack on Georgia.

“If someone thinks they can kill our citizens, kill soldiers and officers fulfilling the role of peacekeepers, we will never allow this,” Mr Medvedev told a group of Second World War veterans in Kursk. “Anyone who tries to do this will receive a shattering blow.” The rest is HERE

Anyone that has been following this from the beginning needs to look real close about what is happening in Georgia. Russia aided folks in certain areas of Georgia that wanted to be under the rule of Russia. Georgia attacked them and Russia came to their aid.

In terms people can understand, it would be like the Mexicans in TJ wanted to be Americans, and Mexico sent troops in to keep them under Mexican rule, and America rolled into TJ to protect them from the wrath of Mexico, and then America went on to Mexico City for shits and giggles.

IMO, the Russians are WRONG, they invaded a sovereign nation- PERIOD. For those of you that say “Well the West did it in Iraq” I ask you how many security council meeting, and resolutions did the Georgians get? how many other nations were involved in this military action? how many UN resolutions? how many meetings? Now where near as many as Iraq got I am sure.

I also would like to point out that if this stands, and America does nothing, then it’s a free for all and WE will not have to exercise any security council options prior to attacking Iran, all we have to do is say, there are Iranian’s that want to be closer to the west….fight on.

I think America and the NATO allies need to show their mettle now more than ever. And we are in great shape, with the French leader Sarkozy threatening the Russians we are assured a win (Sarcasm should be detected)

I don’t want to hear a damn thing about how screwed we are with Bush, I know. I also know we don’t have a choice right now. GWB is leading the most powerful nation on earth, and NOW he needs to actually do something RIGHT!

U.S., Poland Reach Agreement on Missile Defense

Aug. 14 (Bloomberg) — The U.S. and Poland signed a preliminary accord today that will allow for 10 U.S. interceptor missiles to be based in the eastern European country, completing a defense system that Russia opposes.

The U.S. has agreed to Polish requests including modernization of its armed forces in exchange for the location of the missiles, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said in an interview with private broadcaster TVN24 this evening.

“We are now harvesting the fruit of many months of hard work,” said Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski at a joint press conference with U.S. Undersecretary of State John Rood in Warsaw. “Only people of ill intent should fear this agreement.”

Talks on locating part of the planned missile-defense shield on Polish territory made headway yesterday in the wake of the Georgian conflict.

The Russian incursion heightened Poland’s security concerns and “made the Polish government a little more willing to conclude a deal,” said Wade Boese, research director at the Arms Control Association, a non-partisan group in Washington. “It may also have made the Bush administration more willing to meet the Polish demands.”

Well nothing like poking the bear while it’s rampaging.. You know, not being able to do anything about it at all, and the whole world knowing it, isn’t the best strategy.

This could go sideways in a hurry, and some serious diplomacy, undeniable strength, and Great leadership abilities are in need right now.. I sure think of George W Bush, Barak Hussien Obama, And John McCain during these times…..

Georgia ‘overrun’ by Russian troops as full-scale ground invasion begins.

Georgian officials tonight claimed the country had been ‘overrun’ by Russian troops after a full-scale ground invasion.

Amid reports that Moscow forces had taken the town of Gori – and were marching on the capital Tsblisi – Georgian soldiers appeared to be in full retreat.

Troops were apparently in complete chaos as a full-scale rout pushed them back through the countryside.

Meanwhile, the civilian crisis intensified with thousands of refugees fleeing the seemingly unstoppable advance of the Russian army. The rest is here

Ok I don’t know if anyone realizes exactly what is happening with Russia.
Let your ol buddy Bushwack school you a bit.

America has a lame duck President in office. We have a DEMOCRAT led Congress that is the most inept bunch of elected officials we have ever seen. We have a very LIBERAL presidential candidate that is leading in all polls, and who is projected to win the WhiteHouse in November. Most of our Military forces are tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan. We are spending a large amount of money in both of those wars and our economy is struggling. Oh and the worlds attention is on the Olympics….
So in conclusion, the world is ripe for the taking. Russia has the confidence to attack another nation because they know we are WEAK!
The USA is not in any position to help Georgia for a couple of reasons.
1. The lack of leadership in DC. From Congress to the President.
2 .Our wonderful “PC society” the bay area media darlings the so called “Humanitarian” protesters that actually cost more lives than they save…

Ask yourself a couple of questions: When Sadaam Hussein attacked Kuwait, how long did it take before an ultimatum was issued? How long before the mission to remove them from Kuwait was set in motion?  (Oh and our media darlings were in the street protesting that too.)
Russia has a perceived threat, real or not they perceive it. They are answering the threat as a COUNTRY, not a party and they will handle that threat without idiots in Moscow parading in pink outfits screaming about an unjust war, or war for oil. You will see what it takes to be successful in a campaign in the 21st century.

It’s hilarious to me to hear the folks the media puts on TV these days, the same liberal trash that is bitching because we are killing insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan, think we need to do something to help Georgia. Us Bad Americans should do nothing, and we should send the US Media over there to send back all the pictures. Just like we should do nothing about Darfur, Tibet, or any other shit hole, We need to repair the damage WE did in Iraq, and withdrawal into obscurity until we grow a set. That can take years if it ever happens at all.
Take a good look America, this is what happens when you allow the liberal mentality to creep into a leadership role. The big boys on the block see blood in the water and now MORE lives are lost.
The Isolationism Ron Paul advocated is going to happen, NOT by choice though, it’s going to come because all the country’s we have backed, are seeing what is happening in Georgia and they are going to start seeing things differently as far as their friends.

I don’t agree with the Russians, I think they went off the reservation so to speak. BUT I admire them for being able to handle business without all the political BS when it is necessary.
Sorry Georgia, You have no help coming from the US, at least until 2012. Hang in there.

Does anyone remember the cold war movie Red Dawn? Right about now the Rockies seem like a great place to move.

Others opining about the Russians:

TexasFred, Longstreet, Jenn of the Jungle at screw liberals I am sure there are more don’t be offended, leave a link and I’ll update the post.

Obama Meets With Iraqi President; Talks Timeline for U.S. Troop Withdrawal

Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama and the Iraqi government found agreement in Baghdad on Monday for a 2010 withdrawal of U.S. combat forces, a timeline that has faced withering criticism from Republican Sen. John McCain.

As Obama laid eyes on the Iraq war for the first time in more than two years, he emerged from a meeting with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, calling it “very constructive.”

The trip follows Republican attempts to diminish Obama’s foreign policy experience and a challenge from McCain, who complained that Obama was wrong to plan for troop withdrawal without having visited since January 2006. McCain has visited Iraq eight times since the war began. The Arizona senator has said Obama’s foreign policy plans are naive and that he is untested.

After Obama sat down with al-Maliki in Baghdad’s heavily protect Green Zone, government spokesman Ali al-Dabagh, who is very close to the Iraqi leader and sat in on the meeting, said Baghdad was not interested in troop withdrawal plans that arise out of the American presidential campaign but “in a real timetable the Iraqis have set.”

When asked for a date, al-Dabagh said, “up to 2010.”

That would match Obama’s pledge to remove U.S. combat troops within 16 months of taking office and reinforces al-Maliki’s reported support for that timetable in an interview published last week in Der Spiegel, a German magazine.

Here is the Demorat plan at the forefront. In war time you tell everything you know, no matter who it hurts. Al-Maliki said a 2010 time-line is acceptable… Do you honestly believe that same “Time-line” has not been discussed with the current CIC? The difference?

A person in charge of prosecuting a war does not give the enemy a time when all will be over in a public statement. The issue may be discussed and even agreed to behind closed doors and the only folks knowing the REAL time-line are those in charge of making decisions. OBAMA is not making ANY decisions yet, and for the Iraqi PM to give Obama this type of ammunition for his idiot followers is irresponsible.

The Iraqi PM has pretty much decided that Barrak Hussein Obama is going to be running things here. He might be, and when (or IF) we hold to a timetable, and Al-Qaeda comes back and Iran comes in and a lot of his countrymen die… WE can look back on this time and say “IRAQ is responsible for IRAQ” The responsibility is squarely on Al Maliki now.
No time table EVER IMO, but since the leadership of Iraq feels like negotiating a retreat already…
Fuck it leave NOW, The Iraqi PM has put his cards on the table, no need for us to be there now, he is negotiating with a person (Liberal anti-Iraq war after things started to go bad) who has caused more death than any Marines rifle or bombing run, OBAMA and his ilk have been supplying the enemy’s of Iraq and America with the very thing they need… HOPE, and KNOWLEDGE. The HOPE we would surrender followed by the KNOWLEDGE that if they held out long enough WE WOULD!

Regardless of how you see IRAQ, why, what, where, or who.. THE ISSUE IS NOW! The issue is do we provide ammunition to those we have stopped, or at least have on the run, and let them know “HEY guys look, all we have to do is hang out in Afghanistan or Pakistan till 2010, then we come back and finish this thing.”

Good move there Barak Hussien Obama.
