A billboard in West Plains showing a caricature of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama wearing a turban and using his middle name — Hussein — in quotes has sparked outrage and accusations of racism.

The sign, located south of West Plains on U.S. 63 across from the Dairy Queen, says: “Barack ‘Hussein’ Obama equals more abortions, same sex marriages, taxes, gun regulations.”

Outrage over the sign triggered West Plains resident Becky Estes to write a letter in Monday’s edition of the Daily Quill newspaper saying “such a tasteless display merely reinforces the wide-spread belief that Ozarkers are ignorant country bumpkins.”

“People don’t like it. They’re embarrassed by that sign, ashamed by that sign, horrified by that sign and outraged by that sign,” Estes told the News-Leader on Thursday.

Estes’ letter sparked responses from locals and out-of-state former residents in Wednesday’s newspaper. The person who created the sign remains anonymous.

“I can find nothing wrong with this sign/cartoon, which is truthful by Obama’s own statements,” wrote James E. (Jay) Gentry Jr. of Mountain Grove. “If this is upsetting to Ms. Estes, then she should do some hard thinking about what is forthcoming if he is elected.”

I wonder if the folks are upset that the sign uses “HUSSEIN” ? I mean Barack Hussein Obama’s Middle name IS Hussein so that can’t be it. Maybe they are objecting to his “likeness” wearing a turban? Well his father is a Muslim, his Brother in Kenya is a Muslim, his middle name is HUSSEIN, and Barack nor OBAMA are distinguished as American/Christian/Hindu or Budhist names…So I figure that can’t be it..

I am going with them objecting to the “Same Sex Marriage” part of the sign because Joe Biden said they did not support same sex marriage…Yep that’s the reason. :rollingeyes:

The Messiah, the chosen one, and our great leader will speak to us on October 29th in prime time. He will grace us with his all knowing, all seeing and all controlling wonderfulness in order to bring about our change, and allow us to worship him at the alter of the media’s stage.

I fully expect our great leader to float down from heaven on a cloud on this day and proclaim for all to hear that HE is the true master of the universe, and we who have been critical of him will be forgiven for our transgression if we repent… (/sarcasm)

Barack Hussein Obama, who has been running the most divisive election ever in the history of our nation, wishes to talk to us, Barack Hussein Obama has been a member and leader of the bash Bush crowd no matter WHO it hurts, including Military members on the ground in harms way. It is different when pundits, or bloggers voice their displeasure over the president, but leaders in elected office should refrain from the vocal tirades he and his cohorts have performed over the past eight years, especially in the company of our enemies.

I suggest ALL of the ‘Right-minded” individuals boycott all stations that will be showing great leader speak. We are not in China YET, but it will be soon….

I will be doing ANYTHING but watching “The one” on that day…How about you?

NRA Takes Aim at Obama Using Hillary’s Words

WASHINGTON — The National Rifle Association endorsed John McCain for president Thursday, saying McCain “has more than two decades of pro-gun and pro-hunting votes in Congress” and slamming Barack Obama for “his radical record of opposition to our constitutional rights.”

The organization also pulled the trigger on a full-page national newspaper ad that revives a mailing in which Hillary Clinton accused Obama of hedging on gun issues.

The Clinton mailing, which was sent during the Democratic primaries, accused Obama of changing his statements on gun issues to to fit his audience.

“Hillary was right: You can’t trust Obama with your guns,” says the NRA political action committee’s ad, which appears in USA Today on Thursday.

The ad includes a reproduction of Clinton’s mailing, which mentioned Obama’s comment at an April fundraiser in San Francisco that some small-town voters bitter about lost jobs “cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

“We believe that he’s trying to fog the issue and confuse the voter, and he says he’s for the Second Amendment while he votes to run the firearms industry and the Second Amendment out of business,” Wayne LaPierre, the NRA’s executive vice president, said in an interview Wednesday with The Associated Press.

You see, here this is some useful thinking. Obama is not a friend of the LEGAL gun owner, Neither is McCain, HOWEVER; With Sarah Palin being on the ticket, the LEGAL Gun Owner will have a voice in the cabinet. Now contrast that with a Barack Hussein Obama cabinet that will be peppered with ACORN executives, Liberal Lawyers, and Criminal Rights advocates.

The choice is getting clearer.
