Hi friends,
I am always being asked to grade Obama’s presidency. In place of offering him a grade, I put together a list of his accomplishments thus far. I think you would agree that it is very impressive. His first six months have been even more active than FDRs or LBJs the two standards for such assessments. Yet, there is little media attention given to much of what he has done. Of late, the media is focusing almost exclusively on Obama’s critics, without holding them responsible for the uncivil, unconstructive tone of their disagreements or without holding the previous administration responsible for getting us in such a deep hole. The misinformation and venom that now passes for political reporting and civic debate is beyond description.
As such, there is a need to set the record straight. What most impresses me is the fact that Obama has accomplished so much not from a heavy-handed or top-down approach but from a style that has institutionalized efforts to reach across the aisle, encourage vigorous debate, and utilize town halls and panels of experts in the policy-making process. Beyond the accomplishments, the process is good for democracy and our democratic processes have been battered and bruised in recent years.
Let me know if I missed anything in the list (surely I did).
Robert1. Ordered all federal agencies to undertake a study and make recommendations for ways to cut spending. (The recommendations have led to what?)
2. Ordered a review of all federal operations to identify and cut wasteful spending and practices (Again what have they cut?)3. Instituted enforcement for equal pay for women (How many women occupy top spots in the admin, for that matter how diverse is Obama’s cabinet compared to GW’s?) (Equal pay enforcement has got what exactly? the bill was already on the books prior to Obama, and just like Obama’s normal, taking credit for something not done.)
4. Beginning the withdrawal of US troops from Iraq (Would have been started under WHOEVER was POTUS at the time, because of the success of GWB’s surge that Obama and Biden both opposed)5. Families of fallen soldiers have expenses covered to be on hand when the body arrives at Dover AFB (Not sure that this is true, Under the previous admin some had to cover costs but were immediately repaid. either way its a GOOD THING)
6. Ended media blackout on war casualties; reporting full information (And how many bodies have been seen on the MSM coming home since Obama took over? 1 I think, and is that because no more soldiers died? no it’s because the families control the use of media at their arrival)
7. Ended media blackout on covering the return of fallen soldiers to Dover AFB; the media is now permitted to do so pending adherence to respectful rules and approval of fallen soldier’s family (See #5, same applies, no media coverage since the wars have started for the most part, but if GW was still in office we would be swamped with coverage in the media)8. The White House and federal government are respecting the Freedom of Information Act (Uh Yeah, exactly what differences have you seen?)
9. Instructed all federal agencies to promote openness and transparency as much as possible, (The key words are “As much as possible” and I guess the health care debate, and cap and tax were not possible) LMAO10. Limits on lobbyist’s access to the White House ( Yeah, limits which mean unless you are FOR socialism, UNIONS and Black Causes, you can not go)
11. Limits on White House aides working for lobbyists after their tenure in the administration (see above)12. Ended the previous stop-loss policy that kept soldiers in Iraq/Afghanistan longer than their enlistment date (Ok, then he sent 20k more troops to fight since he pretty much forgot about it for the st 6 months of his agenda pushing)
13. Phasing out the expensive F-22 war plane and other outdated weapons systems, which weren’t even used or needed in Iraq/Afghanistan (The future will dictate if this was wise, Clinton made it illegal for soldiers to carry firearms on base. We see how Ft Hood worked out)
14. Removed restrictions on embryonic stem-cell research (Not good, but yeah he did do it, just like GWB stopped it in his first couple of days)
15. Federal support for stem-cell and new biomedical research (yep he did it, just like GWB undid it in his first couple of days)
16. New federal funding for science and research labs (Key word is FEDERAL funding, which continues to raise our debt, see wasteful spending that he was supposed to curtail)
17. States are permitted to enact federal fuel efficiency standards above federal standards (Ok, that was what, a suggestion? more Globull warming stuff)
18. Increased infrastructure spending (roads, bridges, power plants) after years of neglect (After years of neglect? he instituted this as part of the “Stimulus package” which saved or created some jobs.. LOL)19. Funds for high-speed, broadband Internet access to K-12 schools (Yeah, more federal spending)
20. New funds for school construction (Funding)
21. The prison at Guantanamo Bay is being phased out (Is it closed? is it even closer than it would have been under GWB? hell no)
22. US Auto industry rescue plan (Taxpayer money to bailout companies)
23. Housing rescue plan (Those that needed rescuing because of Barney Frank and Bill Clinton’s “Give everyone a home no matter if they can afford it or not” laws)24. $789 billion economic stimulus plan (And that’s a good thing? how much was truly spent? how much did it stimulate? it stimulated the banks, wallstreet, and his buddies)
25. The public can meet with federal housing insurers to refinance (the new plan can be completed in one day) a mortgage if they are having trouble paying (Always could meet, this is bullshit straight up but the author needs something I’m sure..)
26. US financial and banking rescue plan (yep started and followed through to the letter GWB’s plan)
27. The secret detention facilities in Eastern Europe and elsewhere are being closed (Secret? then how did you know? and do you really know if they are closed or do you just believe everything the chosen one says?)28. Ended the previous policy; the US now has a no torture policy and is in compliance with the Geneva Convention standards. (We will see how that works out soon I’m sure)
29. Better body armor is now being provided to our troops (Better armor was already in the works prior to Obama, the real truth is it was held up by funding and bickering about Iraq within the congress, it was sitting in boxes waiting for the funds to be transfered)
30. The missile defense program is being cut by $1.4 billion in 2010 (Again, sounds good now don’t it? well until something happens that would have been preventable)
31. Restarted the nuclear nonproliferation talks and building back up the nuclear inspection infrastructure/protocols (And exactly WHO was stopping it under GWB? the liberal no-nuke crew that’s who)32. Reengaged in the treaties/agreements to protect the Antarctic (Yeah Globull Warming)
33. Reengaged in the agreements/talks on global warming and greenhouse gas emissions (yeah GLOBULL WARMING)
34. Visited more countries and met with more world leaders than any president in his first six months in office (And apologized for being American, for doing anything to protect ourselves the apology tour)
35. Successful release of US captain held by Somali pirates; authorized the SEALS to do their job (And GWb would have never allowed that huh?)
36. US Navy increasing patrols off Somali coast (good thing too)
37. Attractive tax write-offs for those who buy hybrid automobiles (more globull warming taxpayer funded sucking)38. Cash for clunkers program offers vouchers to trade in fuel inefficient, polluting old cars for new cars; stimulated auto sales (Made the foreigner car makers very happy, and it was great for a few lucky folks but again at taxpayer expense and our deficit increased.)
39. Announced plans to purchase fuel efficient American-made fleet for the federal government (yeah, plans)
40. Expanded the SCHIP program to cover health care for 4 million more children (Expanded what was already in place 1/2 point)
41. Signed national service legislation; expanded national youth service program (Mmmm Sounds a bit like socialism but ok get everyone to sing Obama’s praises)42. Instituted a new policy on Cuba, allowing Cuban families to return home to visit loved ones (ok, that was a big deal I guess to some Cubans)
43. Ended the previous policy of not regulating and labeling carbon dioxide emissions (Again Globull warming agenda)44. Expanding vaccination programs (Based on a scare tactic on swine flu)
45. Immediate and efficient response to the floods in North Dakota and other natural disasters (Oh I guess that’s a dig at GWB’s lack of attention in NOLA,)
46. Closed offshore tax safe havens ( yeah you honestly believe they are closed?)
47. Negotiated deal with Swiss banks to permit US government to gain access to records of tax evaders and criminals (Well unless they are named George Soros, or any Obama supporter)48. Ended the previous policy of offering tax benefits to corporations who outsource American jobs; the new policy is to promote in-sourcing to bring jobs back (How’s that working out?)
49. Ended the previous practice of protecting credit card companies; in place of it are new consumer protections from credit card industry’s predatory practices (Yeah again that hasn’t helped anything rates went through the roof and there is NOTHING to stop them)
50. Energy producing plants must begin preparing to produce 15% of their energy from renewable sources (more Globull warming)51. Lower drug costs for seniors (Wait didn’t GWB’s prescription plan start that?)

Ended the previous practice of forbidding Medicare from negotiating with drug manufacturers for cheaper drugs; the federal government is now realizing hundreds of millions in savings (And exactly where is it? that much saving should make health care a slam dunk, but again the author of this fluff is full of it.)
53. Increasing pay and benefits for military personnel (It’s called a cost of living wage increase and it was planned prior to Obama was it not?)
54. Improved housing for military personnel (Mmmm Is this true or just something you made up?)55. Initiating a new policy to promote federal hiring of military spouses (ok, is that happening, or is it in progress?)
56. Improved conditions at Walter Reed Military Hospital and other military hospitals (yeah, the renovations were started under GWB, they still haven’t been completed)57. Increasing student loans (Mmm, yeah and the payment rates have gone up)
58. Increasing opportunities in AmeriCorps program (Socialist agenda)
59. Sent envoys to Middle East and other parts of the world that had been neglected for years; reengaging in multilateral and bilateral talks and diplomacy (part of the apology tour)
60. Established a new cyber security office (To monitor those that disagree with Obama, we can’t have that huh?)
61. Beginning the process of reforming and restructuring the military 20 years after the Cold War to a more modern fighting force; this includes new procurement policies, increasing size of military, new technology and cyber units and operations, etc. (This will not turn out well, Clinton did this too, and we got 9-11 for it)
62. Ended previous policy of awarding no-bid defense contracts (Uh yeah that’s a lie, check recent news)
63. Ordered a review of hurricane and natural disaster preparedness (ordered someone to do something)
64. Established a National Performance Officer charged with saving the federal government money and making federal operations more efficient (Uh yeah, more efficient equals MORE people, the growth of the government is on pace to rival that of communist china in his first year)
65. Students struggling to make college loan payments can have their loans refinanced ( yeah that was tough)
66. Improving benefits for veterans (Again that had been under review for over 2 years)
67. Many more press conferences and town halls and much more media access than previous administration (How many press conferences has Obama had? you are smoking crack on this one)
68. Instituted a new focus on mortgage fraud (Mmm, haven’t heard much about this)
69. The FDA is now regulating tobacco (Umm lets see, ever heard of ATF? they were regulating it, when is tobacco a FOOD?)70. Ended previous policy of cutting the FDA and circumventing FDA rules (Uh we’ll see)
71. Ended previous practice of having White House aides rewrite scientific and environmental rules, regulations, and reports (Yeah unless they show something Obama doesn’t agree with, then they’ll rewrite it just like every other staff/admin has done since the 1900’s.)
72. Authorized discussions with North Korea and private mission by Pres. Bill Clinton to secure the release of two Americans held in prisons (LMAO, yeah and how is that NK thing going?)
73. Authorized discussions with Myanmar and mission by Sen. Jim Web to secure the release of an American held captive (Yep, sure did, he authorized someone to do something, when Jesse Jackson went and did negotiations did GWB get credit for him going?….Funny as hell though)
74. Making more loans available to small businesses (Not true at all)
75. Established independent commission to make recommendations on slowing the costs of Medicare (And then changed it so it showed what he and his cronies wanted in public)
76. Appointment of first Latina to the Supreme Court (It wasn’t the first Latin, you idiots killed the first ones chance)77. Authorized construction/opening of additional health centers to care for veterans (yep, sounds good)
78. Limited salaries of senior White House aides; cut to $100,000 (Not counting some very interesting accounting tricks, but yeah their salaries have dropped, hear anything about bonuses? Thought not)
79. Renewed loan guarantees for Israel (Yep it came up for renewal and he signed it tough huh?)
80. Changed the failing/status quo military command in Afghanistan (Failing status Quo? LoL it was progressing and the same strategy GWB and Gates laid out is the one that took Obama 3 months while soldiers were dying to agree too and send troops to support it, the only thing Obama did different was add a retreat timeline)81. Deployed additional troops to Afghanistan (After how long?)
82. New Afghan War policy that limits aerial bombing and prioritizes aid, development of infrastructure, diplomacy, and good government practices by Afghans (Yeah a PC war, not a war on terror that would be bad)
83. Announced the long-term development of a national energy grid with renewable sources and cleaner, efficient energy production (yeah he’s going all Nuke now that he’s in charge, but when he was a libturd wannabe he was against nukes..what is it?)
84. Returned money authorized for refurbishment of White House offices and private living quarters (Ok I can’t even comment I’m laughing so hard that this is an “Accomplishment”)
85. Paid for redecoration of White House living quarters out of his own pocket (Yeah, his poor Lawyer salaried pockets, his wife’s lawyer pockets, and how many dollars did SCIU and Soros help with?)
86. Held first Seder in White House (??)
87. Attempting to reform the nation’s healthcare system which is the most expensive in the world yet leaves almost 50 million without health insurance and millions more under insured (Attempting to socialize America)
88. Has put the ball in play for comprehensive immigration reform (Put in play? it was in play under the last admin)
