Libertarians, listen up.

Libertarians, listen up.

I’ve given a lot of thought to the “Libertarian” viewpoint. I usually do when Ron Paul’s name comes up. I’m sure it’s purely coincidental that its only around election time…

I’ve heard Ron Paul’s view on our Military, our liberty, our nations spending spree and while I agree with Paul on his spending spree sentiments I have a real problem with his “Liberty” views as well as some of his “Military industrial complex” beliefs.

Let’s start with his “American Liberty” views:

Ron Paul is of the mindset that making drugs legal would reduce the costs to the nation because we’d quit housing drug users/dealers in our prisons and we could then tax the product, which would increase Government revenue. Now, I’m not saying that’s a moonbat approach but I will say it’s dumber than dirt.

I think Ron Paul would have been great to have in power back in the early days of America. If  he would have stayed in power through the 1900’s, perhaps his views might not have been seen as so ridiculous. The problem is the genie will not go back in the bottle easily.

The biggest problem with Ron Paul’s position on “Freedom” is there are too many Americans that can’t handle TRUE Liberty. And unless you are willing to outlaw the ACLU and the entire judicial system for about 20 years, Ron Paul’s “vision” is unrealistic. Ron Paul’s entire structure of America revolves around letting people do what they want to do as long as it doesn’t affect OTHERS, but he doesn’t expound about his plan to deal with those who infringe on OTHERS rights.

A simple analogy. A guy up river from you dumps his waste in the river, that’s your drinking water, how do you feel about your neighbors rights to use the river?

What you don’t hear from Ron Paul is consequences. The consequences for actions that step on the rights of others is a big issue with me. For example: If you’re dumb enough to want to sit out on the street and shoot heroin, fine be my guest. It’s called thinning the herd as far as I’m concerned. BUT what about the businesses on that street? What about the home values in the area? What about the kids that have to walk by that idiot on the way to school? What about the crimes this guy commits to get his drugs? Do the people in the area not have rights too? Where do you draw the line?

Fact is, Paul’s theory’s of Liberty are great if we actually punished those that trampled on others rights. IF you want a Paul’s version of America, then you must start with deterrent. Paul will have to come out and say how he plans to get the “genie” back in the bottle.

Back in the day when “RESPONSIBILITY for ONES ACTIONS” was common place, true liberty was achieved. NOW however; we have softened our standards. We have blamed everything under the sun for crimes and criminals. We in America have lost our moral fiber and our moral compass is now facing east/west at best. We used to be a true NORTH society. We knew it was wrong to steal, murder or whatever. NOW we seem to find excuses for the criminal rather than punish behavior.

In My OPINION: We would trade state funded prisons for state funded rehab centers and on top of that, can you imagine the celebrity excuses that would filter down? IT’S ILLEGAL NOW and we use it as an excuse, how about when it’s legal?

Personal responsibility: MISSING IN ACTION IN AMERICA. Once you get that part back, call me I’m in.

The Military views of Ron Paul are about as acceptable to me as his drug stance. While I’d be perfectly fine with bringing some of our troops home from some areas. Others we have sided with and help because we are a like minded society. Israel for one. South Korea is another as well as Japan and a few other places that we do business with and offer each other benefits on this earth. Friends help friends that’s how it works.

His border stance and his federal monitoring/over reach/ and money policies are dead nuts on for the most part. But the two issues above are KILLERS for me.

Would I vote for Ron Paul if he were running against Barack Obama?

Lets just say if those are the two names on the ticket  I’ll be in my cabin in the mountains, someone send me a carrier pigeon to tell me who won.

    1. Fred, Have you noticed the age of his supporting cast? He’s got a LARGE YOUNG COLLEGE age base. Most of whom are experimenting with modern chemistry already. Perhaps they’re tired of having to drive to the hood to get their goodies? I understand the draw though. In my youth any candidate that was cool with drugs was my guy. I mean, the man was making it hard to make some coin.

True liberty is something we lost a long time ago. It went out with the introduction of liberal thought. It left our nation with the introduction of activist judges, lobbyists, corrupt politicians, special interest groups and college indoctrination.. lately its moved down to K-12.

He preaches “Revolution” I’m good with that. Let’s do it. I’m sick of fighting idiots on both sides of me.
