Did Obama get Egypt Right?

There is a lot of angst across the world today, celebrations in Egypt, cautious optimism in places like America, France and Britain… Outright CONCERN in Israel and fear in Saudi Arabia… Our POTUS is dancing a jig now because he feels the Egyptian people are going to be better off. Will they?

Time will tell, so far it looks like this was the best possible outcome for all, but it’s very early in the process. A transitional Government replacing one that was forced out. What signal does that send? IMO it’s kind of like negotiating with terrorists or hostage takers. IF you give in to their demands, you will surely see MORE terrorists or hostages…

I hope Egypt keeps the Islamic radicals OUT of their Government, BUT I’m not real optimistic. There are those that are proclaiming Obama the king of foreign policy because this “Ended” this way. To those people I would remind them that Iran was a pretty peaceful transition until the Shaw was invited here by Carter.

The sentiment in Egypt is one of Anti-Americanism by a large majority, and an even larger majority of that CROWD in the square HATES US. What do you think is going to happen when elections are held and someone is “Voted in” that continues the ties with the USA?

I think these times are about to get really interesting. As of right now Obama looks like a genius for not picking a side. He leaned toward the protesters but he sent many mixed messages. The protesters may remember this fondly or as is custom, hatefully.

As of right now Obama is sitting high on the hog. It will be very interesting to see how long he stays there. IF Egypt blows up again, and if Saudi Arabia does the same, Obama may have created a huge mess, if things settle down he’ll look like a hero.

  1. I read an article last night that stated the brotherhood would win 30% in an election, but that the military would not allow them in any area of importance. We shall see.
