The United States of America July 4, 1776 - Jan 20, 2009 Rest in Peace.
In the spirit of reaching across the aisle, we owe it to the Democrats to show their president the exact same kind of respect and loyalty that they have shown our recent Republican president.
George Bush is the WORST president since the peanut farmer, but his approval rating has been higher than congress, over the last couple of days I can see why.
George Bush called for a bailout, and that’s fine as far as I’m concerned.
Let me explain:
The President, a man that will be leaving office in less than six months had an advisor and the treasury secretary tell him our economy was in dire straights and I can understand that. I can understand the “Urgency” in Bush’s voice while he announced to the nation the need for this bailout. He still needs to lead, and he is doing as he has done, lead poorly. To be expected IMO.
Here is where I might stray from the common reasoning of my friends:
This was Congress’s time to say “George Bush we are not afraid, we will look at your proposal and we will debate it, we will not be pushed into anything because you say it’s “Dire” you have used that line of bullshit enough”.
BUT IT DIDN’T HAPPEN.
GWB says “We need to act quickly on this bailout” Pelosi, Reid, Frank, and the rest of the Democrat leaders jump to pass that plan over the weekend.
Ask yourself why?
My opinion is the GWB/Paulson plan is a typical DEMOCRAT plan in the way of Government sponsored welfare. Oh, and it’s better than that, it’s government welfare and it’s from a REPUBLICAN. Don’t be confused by all the rhetoric about the bill Bush and Paulson put fourth, it was just not “giving” enough to all those crack heads in Chicago and San Francisco. THAT was the only “adjustments” needed to the bill by the Democrat leaders, it had to give more to those that have done NOTHING, paid nothing, and do nothing.
Pelosi made a huge mistake, she didn’t wait to distance herself and her ilk from the bill until it was passed. Pelosi made her victory speech while there was still time on the clock. The Democrat leaderships plan was to push for the passage of the bill which gave money to their buddies that couldn’t afford the homes they are living in, that were gained from the DEMOCRAT Community Reinvestment Act, and blame it all on the Republicans…
KUDOS to the Republicans and Democrats that voted NO on this bullshit.
McCain pushed for this bill too… That is troubling, but he needed to be seen as a problem solver and MAYBE he had a hand in STOPPING it by showing up and saying he was for it. There still are a few conservatives left in congress, who knew.
This is the second time I have not been happy with McCain, but for the second time WE stopped the bill he backed. I could get used to this.
While we need to fix some issues GWB let happen, WE don’t need more taxes, We don’t need wealth distribution, We don’t need abortion on demand, We don’t need to turn our guns in to the magistrate, We don’t need to be told what we can say, or not say.
Those are the issues that matter in this election, and that is the reason I will vote McCain/Palin.
The Democrats have the majority, if the “BAILOUT” bill was so great why did so many DEMOCRATS not support it? Democrats voted 140 to 95 in favor of the legislation, while just 65 Republicans backed the bill and 133 opposed it.
I am absolutely glad this bill failed and WE need to vote every moron currently holding a seat OUT of office. Reagan had it right: “I’m from the Government and I’m here to help” Doesn’t make me feel better at all.
Remember all those libtards that say “Republicans had the majority” so they should have done yada yada yada…. Well the Democrats have the MAJORITY, and look.. 140 to 95 so almost 1/3 of Democrats did not want this bailout, less than half of the Republicans voted against it..
So while the Pelosi’s and Franks are blaming the Republicans, they need to look in there own house. Oh but that would be taking responsibility for the failure.WHY not 100% Democrat support? Obama liked it? Let me tell you why, it is unpopular and Obama can’t be seen as supporting an unpopular bill, McCain is used to SUPPORTING unpopular bills, that’s why he is called a “MAVERICK” and that is STRAIGHT FORWARD walk the walk leadership that is in dire need.
The Pelosi mantra as adopted by the most liberal congress ever, is BLAME Bush. Well Bush is not totally responsible for this mess.. IF you haven’t seen the truth, you need to, unfortunately YOUTUBE has taken the video down, perhaps it is due to Obama’s “Stop the truth” campaign.
And even this video doesn’t address my concerns with Obama’s favorite Pastors, his anti-semitic, anti-American wife or his socialistic weath distrbution plans….But it will do.
Iranians chanted “Death to Israel” on Friday as Islamist students unveiled a book mocking the Holocaust in an Al-Quds (Jerusalem) Day annual parade to show solidarity with the Palestinians.
And in Gaza City, the Islamist Hamas movement that has ruled the impoverished Palestinian territory since June 2007 marked the day by calling for more suicide attacks on Israel.
The book “Holocaust,” published by members of Iran’s Islamist Basij militia, features dozens of cartoons and sarcastic commentary.
Education Minister Alireza Ali-Ahmadi attended the official launch of the book in Tehran’s Palestine Square.
The cover shows a Jew with a crooked nose and dressed in traditional garb drawing outlines of dead bodies on the ground.
Inside, bearded Jews are shown leaving and re-entering a gas chamber with a counter that reads the number 5,999,999.
Another illustration depicts Jewish prisoners entering a furnace in a Nazi extermination camp and leaving from the other side as gun-wielding “terrorists.”
Yet another shows a patient draped in an Israeli flag and on life support breathing Zyklon-B, the poisonous gas used in the extermination chambers.
Iran does not recognise the Jewish state, and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has attracted international condemnation by repeatedly predicting Israel is doomed to disappear and branding the Holocaust a “myth.”
The commentary inside the book includes anti-Semitic stereotypes and revisionist arguments, casting doubt that the massacre of Jews took place and mocking Holocaust survivors who claimed reparations after World War II.
One comment, in a question-and-answer format, reads: “How did the Germans emit gas into chambers while there were no holes on the ceiling?” Answer: “Shut up, you criminal anti-Semite. How dare you ask this question?”
In 2006, the Islamic republic hosted a conference of Holocaust deniers and revisionists and a mass-circulation Iranian newspaper held a cartoon competition on the subject.
On Friday, tens of thousands of Iranians marched in Tehran, chanting “Death to Israel,” declaring solidarity with the Palestinians and calling for Jerusalem and Israel to be handed to the Palestinians.
Demonstrators carried placards bearing slogans including “Israel will be destroyed, Palestine is Victorious” and “Holy war until victory,” and they also torched American and Israeli flags.
No Holocaust? It was just a joke I guess, I mean the Germans didn’t kill millions of Jews and America didn’t rescue millions more… So denial is not just a river in Egypt.
Mr Obama says he will meet with these idiots without pre-conditions. Mr Obama thinks WE are to blame for Iran’s power play and I somewhat agree with that assertion. HOWEVER; We all know that blaming is not solving and it is evident that Obama’s entire campaign is about BLAME, his Socialistic tendencies will not help with terrorists the economy or ANY of the current problems our nation faces.
THE ANTI-Christ is here ladies and gentlemen and he is bringing the light… He is Barrack Hussein Obama and he very close to the most powerful nations reigns. Invest in precious metals and survival training.
The Ant and the Grasshopper, 2008 edition
by Michelle Malkin
With what looks like imminent passage of the Mother of All Bailouts (following on the heels of a year’s worth of government-funded rescues of private homeowners, lenders, insurers, and the automakers), Washington has turned Aesop’s famous fable about prudence and hard work on its head. The time is ripe for a revised 2008 edition of “The Ant and the Grasshopper:”
In a meadow on a hot summer’s day, a Grasshopper was chirping and carousing his time away. He watched scornfully as an Ant nearby struggled to store up large kernels of food and build a secure nest. The Ant pulled overtime shifts to pay off his loans and accumulate retirement funds for the future.
“Give it a rest,” the Grasshopper said. “Why bother saving and slaving and toiling and moiling? Let’s party!” The Ant demurred: “I am planning ahead for winter and you should do the same.” The Grasshopper blew off the Ant, squandered his supplies the rest of the season, and abandoned his home while on vacation (paid for by tapping every last cent of his home equity gain) instead of holding down a job.
When winter came, the Grasshopper’s pantry was empty and his shelter ruined from neglect. The Ant, weary from planting, harvesting, and stocking up for months, was dining comfortably in his nest.
Cold, hungry, jobless, facing foreclosure, and up to his two pairs of eyeballs in debt, the Grasshopper limped to the Association of Community Winged Insects for Rescue Now and demanded recourse. The office was swamped with thousands just like him. ACWIRN immediately put the Grasshopper to work registering dead ants as new voters.
Funded with tax dollars from the rest of the meadow’s residents, ACWIRN organized mass protests at the Bank of Antamerica, ambushed its top officials at their private homes, harassed their children, and demanded that the meadow’s politicians halt all foreclosures (”We must keep Grasshoppers in their houses!”) and outlaw discriminatory lending practices against starving, homeless Grasshoppers (”Well-stocked shelters are basic insect rights!”)
The banking industry capitulated; the Orthoptera Lobby secured hundreds of millions of dollars in housing earmarks and grants and counseling subsidies to support the Grasshoppers with the shadiest credit and employment histories. Antie Mae, the meadow’s government-backed home lending giant, fueled the push for increased insect homeownership in the name of biodiversity. Its executives cooked the books and headed for the hills. Katie Cricket and the Mainstream Meadow Media joined the grievance-for-profit circus, profiling Grasshopper sob stories and drumming up ratings as bewildered Ants wondered who was looking out for them.
The banks drowned in toxic debt. More Grasshoppers fell behind on their mortgage payments. Bailout mania and panic gripped the meadow.
Our little Ant, minding his own business, heard a knock on his door one late winter night a year later. It was his old, sneering Grasshopper neighbor. With ACWIRN’s presidential candidate, Barack Cicada, now in office, the Grasshopper had been hired by the meadow as a tax collector.
“I’m here to take your provisions,” the Grasshopper cackled.
But it was the Ant who had the last laugh. “I’ve learned my lesson,” he told his shiftless friend. “Why bother saving and slaving and toiling and moiling? I’ve spent all my savings. I’m walking away from my mortgage. Thrift is for suckers,” the Ant said as he headed out the door, leaving the Grasshopper empty-handed.
Michelle Malkin NAILED it with this one, I know some of my friends don’t particularly care for her but on this occasion she hit a homer.
This bailout is a direct result of the do nothing congress we put in office in 06, it is a direct result of the DEMORAT “Affordable housing initiatives” the “Taco Bell Loans” and the lack of oversights due to being called “Elitists” IF you voted against any of the Demorat led “Give me’s” you were branded with a “racist” or “Elitist” or the ever present “Big Business lover”
There is a reason we are in this mess and it has it’s origins in the Clinton era, but it gained steam with the DEMORAT Do nothing congress of 2006….The worst LEADERSHIP the world has ever seen has been brought to you by the Education system of the USA.
A $100,000 state grant for a botanic garden in Englewood that then-state Sen. Barack Obama awarded in 2001 to a group headed by a onetime campaign volunteer is now under investigation by the Illinois attorney general amid new questions, prompted by Chicago Sun-Times reports, about whether the money might have been misspent.
The garden was never built. And now state records obtained by the Sun-Times show $65,000 of the grant money went to the wife of Kenny B. Smith, the Obama 2000 congressional campaign volunteer who heads the Chicago Better Housing Association, which was in charge of the project for the blighted South Side neighborhood.
Smith wrote another $20,000 in grant-related checks to K.D. Contractors, a construction company that his wife, Karen D. Smith, created five months after work on the garden was supposed to have begun, records show. K.D. is no longer in business.
Attorney General Lisa Madigan — a Democrat who is supporting Obama’s presidential bid — is investigating “whether this charitable organization properly used its charitable assets, including the state funds it received,” Cara Smith, Madigan’s deputy chief of staff, said Wednesday.
In addition to the 2001 grant that Obama directed to the housing association as a “member initiative,” the not-for-profit group got a separate $20,000 state grant in 2006.
Madigan’s office has notified Obama’s presidential campaign of the probe, which was launched this week. But Obama’s actions in awarding the money are not a focus of the investigation, Smith said.
Well Well Well… Sarah Palin, has been under fire from libtards across the nation for the so-called “Bridge to Nowhere” but Sarah Palin actually did KILL IT, then used the money for HER STATE. She actually served her people? How insane that is, I guess Sarah Palin should have gotten elected as Governor and then spent 6 months trying to get a better job, all the while just voting “Present” in state matters, and “If they need you they can call you” I hope you can learn Mrs Palin, the Obama doctrine of Politics and leadership dictates you really don’t have to do anything, just keep talking about what you will do, and then if it’s popular vote with “EVERYONE” if it’s an unpopular bill or law, vote present…
Oh and another suggestion, if you ever need spiritual help, call Rev Wright.. or Father Phlegar or Louis Farrakhan…
Obama’s truths are starting to come out, the media is hiding as many as possible and ignoring others… BUT the truth will come out, I just hope it’s not too late.
I was driving to work yesterday and on the corner of Wells and VB there was a sign on an electrical box. it said “DON’T SHOOT TO KILL” in big black letters on white paper.
This sign is in regards to a recent police shooting that happened in the area.
RIVERSIDE – Dozens of relatives and friends of Fernando Luis Sanchez, who was shot to death in Arlanza by a Riverside police officer the evening of Sept. 11, protested the shooting Saturday.
The protesters started in Bryant Park and moved to the corner of Wells Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard where they held up signs that read “Stop the killing” and chanted “don’t shoot to kill.”
Sanchez’s family called for police to use less-than-lethal methods of subduing suspects.
“With so many things they can do today, they don’t have to kill them,” said Sanchez’s mother, Ida Sanchez, 61, citing Tasers and beanbag guns.
Fernando Sanchez was the second Riverside resident police shot to death this month. A pair of officers shot Carlos David Quinonez, 48, in La Sierra on Sept. 1 when he pointed a shotgun at them.
John DeLaRosa, assistant chief of the Riverside police, said he would not comment during the department’s internal investigation into the shooting.
An officer chased down Sanchez, 30, after Sanchez ran from a gas station convenience store when the officer tried to speak to him, police have said.
The officer, whose name hasn’t been released, struggled with Sanchez and the officer felt a gun in Sanchez’s pocket, according to police.
Sanchez wouldn’t take his hands out of his pocket and the officer, fearing for his safety, shot Sanchez several times, police said.
Sanchez had no outstanding warrants, police said. Police said in a news release that a handgun was found on Sanchez.
The family buried him Friday. He left behind three daughters, ages 11, 6 and 4, as well as his mother and father, a sister and three brothers.
Ida Sanchez said her son’s most defining characteristic was a sense of humor that cheered everyone up.
“He was like a jokester,” she said. “He saw you down, you wouldn’t be down any longer.”
Ida Sanchez said it’s not the first officer-involved death in her family. Riverside police also shot and killed one of her nephews, Paul Carrion Jr., 20 years ago when he was 16.
Her daughter and Fernando Sanchez’s sister, Phyllis Carranza, 42, said police are never held accountable when they kill someone.
“It’s ridiculous,” Carranza said. “There’s too many senseless deaths.”
So “Don’t shoot to kill”???????????
Does anyone really care about the whole story? Obviously NOT:
Here is the WHOLE STORY:
The real story as I hear it from several people including ONE relative of his. Nano or Nono or whatever the fuck his nickname was, just returned from an attempted DRIVE BY SHOOTING, and there was a B.O.L.O out for the vehicle he was in. He and his partner pulled up to get gas, and there was a PD Unit next door at the 7-11, the cop recognized the vehicle, just as Fernandez stepped out of the gas station, The cop called for him to come over, and Fernandez took off running down Wells, the cop gave chase, A scuffle ensued and the cop felt a gun in Fernandez waist band, the cop then broke contact pulled his weapon and called to Fernandez to raise his hands, and drop to his knees. Fernandez reached for his weapon… As my friend Fred likes to say “ADIOS MOTHER FUCKER”!
The drive by shooting this guy was involved in was not his first, he was a known gangbanger, and he had an arrest record including robbery, and assault. IMO Fernandez deserved to be shot, he deserved to be pissed on after he was shot…
As soon as I get time I am sending a gift basket to the officer and the entire West End PD for ridding our area of another menace.
I was again searching the interwebs for some articles and opinions on various things and I came across this one, and it made my blood boil.
This was written by some nutbasket named Peter Dyer
What if we had never gone to war? What if, after the shocking crimes of September 11, 2001, the United States had pursued a different course?
What if all the blood which has been spilled in the name of justice still flowed in living veins; all the American, Iraqi and other lives shattered were still whole; all the homes destroyed or lost still standing, still occupied by families who never harmed us?
We have spent monumental treasure and energy on two wars. What if, instead, we had invested a fraction of that in a determined, unrelenting effort to bring Osama bin Laden to justice in a fair and transparent trial in a court of law?
Of course, we’ll never know.
When we were confronted with the most heinous series of terrorist acts in our history Americans overwhelmingly lined up behind President Bush’s call for a “Global War on Terror.”
We can only speculate on what might have been the result of a different course of action, guided by a fundamentally different vision.
For two reasons, though, such speculation would not be entirely baseless:
One week after the U.S. began bombing Afghanistan, the Taliban presented us with an opportunity to investigate the possibility of a peaceful, legal resolution to the crimes of 9/11.
On Oct. 14, 2001, Afghanistan’s deputy prime minister, Haji Abdul Kabir, announced that if the United States stopped the bombing and produced evidence of bin Laden’s guilt, “we would be ready to hand him over to a third country” for trial.
President Bush, determined to launch and pursue the “war on terror,” refused even to discuss, much less investigate this possibility.
* A different course
Exactly 30 months after 9/11 there was another catastrophic terrorist attack in another country: Spain. On March 11, 2004, 191 people in Madrid were killed and over 1,800 injured when 10 backpack bombs exploded on four morning rush-hour commuter trains.
As with 9/11, “11-M” was the most devastating series of terrorist acts in Spanish history.
But Spain chose the path the U.S. rejected.
The Spanish government addressed the crimes of 11-M with the tools, techniques and resources of law enforcement. There was an investigation, arrests, a trial, and appeals.
This process is today essentially complete.
Spain has demonstrated an effective alternative to war as a means of addressing and resolving the bloody horrors of terrorism.
The Spanish example can thus help us make an educated guess at how things might have gone had the Bush administration not immediately and contemptuously rejected Kabir’s offer of Oct. 14, 2001.
And while such an endeavor can’t undo the past seven years, perhaps it can help us make a better choice next time our leaders tell us it’s time for another war.
Here’s how Spain did it.
Two days after the bombings, the police made their first arrests.
After a 25-month investigation, 29 people – 15 Moroccans, nine Spaniards, two Syrians, one Egyptian, one Algerian and one Lebanese – were indicted on April 11, 2006. The Madrid bombing trial opened on Feb. 15, 2007, and ended on July 2.
Four months later, on Oct. 31, 2007, the three-judge tribunal delivered the verdicts.
Three men were convicted of murder, attempted murder and committing terrorist acts. They were sentenced to thousands of years in prison each, although under Spanish law, none will serve longer than 40 years. There is no capital punishment in Spain.
Eighteen were found guilty of lesser offenses. Seven were acquitted. During the trial all charges were dropped against one of the defendants.
0n July 18 of this year, four of the sentences were overturned on appeal to the Supreme Court. Thus, in the end, 17 out of the original 29 indicted have been convicted.
The Supreme Court also concluded that the real ringleaders of the crimes of 11-M were among seven suspects who, three weeks after the bombs exploded, blew themselves up in an apartment outside Madrid when a police assault began.
The U.S. experience and the Spanish experience are, of course, not identical. But there are arguably enough parallels to facilitate a comparison and enable some credible answers to the question: what if?
There is much more of this ridiculous comparison HERE
UNBELIEVABLE… Ok kiddies and folks with sensitivities to vulgarity you might want to bail now:
Still here? Ok last warning…….
Well Mr Dyer, you seem to be looking for some way to incite the Mulsim readers of that piece of shit rag al-jazeera. Let me help you out with a little history:
Beirut, USS Cole, Several airlines, and 2 US Embassies, WTC1 and WTC 2 9-11..
All of those crimes were committed by followers of Islam, based in ISLAMIC countries against the United States of America. Diplomacy yielded very little in the way of retribution for the atrocities, and there was no end in sight for the murder of innocents to stop. You say we should never have done anything but treat it as a crime? Are you fucking kidding me?
What Spain did was turn tail and run, rather than help to install some sort of “Other way” to the masses. I personally wish GWB would have nuked Mecca, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, on 9-12-01, I would have danced in the streets like YOUR READERS did on 9-11.
Hows this for a WHAT IF”
What if the Redneck Mafia decided to DESTROY MECCA during the pilgrimage? Would it be a crime, should it be handled by strictly law enforcement? I think your readers would agree that it would be an act of war… but that would be wrong huh?
I find it hilarious that you would assume that the Taliban would turn over UBL, or that they would help in the hunt for UBL… UBL is not the only problem, Islam is. Your readers are, and idiots like you are.
I suppose the recent bombing in Pakistan is of no concern to you based on your logic, we should not treat that as an attack but just a law enforcement issue? We are at war and personally I think every fucking dead Muslim is one less problem the world has to deal with. I think that entire religion should be wiped off the map I think the US Armed forces are doing a tremendous job of sending Muslim radical fuckheads to meet that pedophile fucknozzle Muhammad.
You might get your wish too Peter Dyer, if Barrack Hussein Obama takes the reins in America, you will see a “Spain like” response, I imagine we will surrender faster than you drop to your knees 5 times a day. (Maybe 6 depending on which Sheik you are blowing)
I would like to remind my readers and friends that I spoke about where things were going when McCain pulled even with the “Chosen one”. Like I said, it is going to get worse… Al-Qaeda wants Obama to win, Al-Jazeera readers want Obama to win, France, Russia, China, North Korea, Mexico, Venezuela ALL want Obama to win this election for a reason. It is not economic. IT is their best chance at getting a surrender at all cost leader in charge, and in Al-Qaeda’s case the ONLY chance of claiming victory.
