@ZP: Never read that novel, but I get the point. Yeah the Reporter will be fine I am sure, he did go to Iraq with Ollie, and if he can survive that, he can survive a confrontation with Code Pinko and their minions.

Zimway “gasping with pleasure”? That reminded me of a horrifying auditorium scene from the Warhammer 40,000 novel Fulgrim, where the Emperor’s Children Space Marines are possessed by daemons through the musical performance their leader organises. They go crazy, slaughter the audience, and turn into bloodthirsty freaks who delight in both their own pain and others’… and from then on they are under the thrall of Chaos. Basically this happening to another human being shouldn’t be a source of pleasure, even if you disagree with them. It’s hypocritical of them (to put it mildly) to campaign for peace when all your behaviour points the other way–God shelter them from the not-so-extreme but no less real consequences. “Cannabisism”? I hope drugs weren’t on the menu, but the way Zimway casually writes them off is creepy too.

Of course, if the reporter involved was the Griff Jenkins who accompanied Oliver North to Iraq, I’m sure he’s survived worse. Let’s hope he’s all right though…
