@Miss Beth: Yeah, we talked about that, do you think McCain will listen to his advisers or will he be the "Decider"?

At least McCain held on to F.T in some capacity it gives us a small glimmer of hope...

The problem with FT being VP, though, is he's already said he wouldn't accept. Which was a total downer in my book. That's why I was excited that FT at least was having some sort of advisory role in the Court arena.

@Malagent: That would sure help, and I was an avid supporter of FT's run, but he didn't seem like he really wanted it until it was too late.
If F.T decided to be on the ticket it might help.

To be truly excited he would have to drop out of the race and endorse Fred Thompson. Of Course Fred would have to agree with this. My excitement has been rotting in the hall since Fred dropped out of the race.

I suppose the next best thing would be if Fred was the VP.

@Robert. I fully understood and endorsed the war against Afghanistan. Bin Laden ( remember him ) was the financier and instigator of the attack on the WTC. For about three months we were 'gung ho' to track the bugger down and make him pay. Whups! Now, it's Bin Who? Those pushing for the base in the Mid East from which to let democracy be a shining example, could easily have made Afghanistan that base. Saddam was a bad dude, but the only thing holding the Sunnis and Shias at bay. Intel seemed a might shaky at best, eh?

I am glad Mr Bush was not President during the Cold War, as we would all be buried under glass.

Ron Paul may not have been a lot of people's cup of tea, but let's face it, during the debates, he got very little air time, as did Tancredo and Hunter. Hard to explain your points when being ignored. Of course the Big Clowns such as Guili Girl, Mitzi, and the clown of all clowns, Uncle Freddy, got a lot of time. McAmnesty was dead in the water a year ago, and suddenly got the money to win the nomination. Okay.

That's all water under the bridge, now. We'll continue our headlong rush to the edge of the cliff, whether at 90 mph with the Socialists DIMS or at 85 mph with the Socialist Lite PUBS. Each succeeding cycle will find the candidates moving farther and farther to the left; after all, that is what the sheeple want. Bread and Circuses

@Shooterman: I don't disagree with a few of those, except the first one and only part of that.
"Going to war only when that war is just and we’ve been attacked. That does not include trying to export democracy at the point of a gun and pre-emptive war."

When is war just? I mean Afghanistan IMO was just, Iraq IMO was just if the intel was correct..THE WAY THEY WERE CONDUCTED is my problem with both of those instances.

We shouldn't have to wait for an attack before we strike, that was an outdated view that IMO doesn't take into account the ability of folks and countries to wipe out LARGE numbers of civilians now that they didn't have in the WW2 era. NUCLEAR weapons changed the rules. IMO.

I don't discuss Iraq anymore the reason is I am not happy about the way things have been done there but I refuse to condemn the conflict to failure while our guys are still in combat.

But the rest of your so called "Outdated views" are not only accurate and I agree with them, however you can't go back in time and change the decisions that were made. The reason Ron Paul didn't do better is he didn't say how he would "Put the genie back in the bottle" so to speak, you cant support the lazy SOB's for 3 generations and then say "You are on your own" You can't offer support to the world in the advancement of freedom and democracy and then turn the funding off, you cant change the country to gold standard in one fell swoop, when for the last 50 years we have done it this way....he never once articulated his plans to MOVE in that direction he just blamed and blamed and poointed out flaws.

Like I said Shooter I would vote for RP before I vote for McCain, just because he has one more check mark beside his name in the "GOOD" column, that being the border.

@Robert. I believe very simply in the following things;

Going to war only when that war is just and we've been attacked. That does not include trying to export democracy at the point of a gun and pre-emptive war.

I believe in a strong specie currency; FIAT money will be the doom of us. Central Banks were anathema to all but a few of the Founders. The Central Bank by pumping too much money into the system are the cause of most of our financial woes

I believe in the rights of man above all else. George Mason, who wrote the Bill of Rights was such a strong supporter of the Rights of Man, he would not approve of the Constitution, without a Bill of Rights. I believe they take precedent over all other aspects of government.

I believe ever since the days of Dishonest Abe Lincoln, our country has ran roughshod over mens rights and the Rights of the States ( actually a misnomer, as governments only have powers, not rights )

Our nation has become an empire- it has ceased being a Republic.

That's a few of my outdated views, Robert.

@Shooterman: What outdated views Shooter? Some folks consider the "Tell it like it is" View and action as refreshing, that is the way I view it.

The view that we must curtail our speech in order not to offend is by all rights a good idea if possible, however once you bring up a topic like Illegal Immigration you become a target of the race baiter's.

I am not sure if that is what you meant by old school.

The only way I could get excited about McCain is if he picked a really solid conservative and then resigned from the race the day of the Republican National Convention.
Reagan-Goldwater in 2008 !!!
