From 2 Worlds Collide

Last month I entered a regional essay contest. Essayists were to discuss, “Why I’m American Proud.” The winner was given front-row tickets to a Merle Haggard concert, a greatest hits CD - HAG: The Best of Merle Haggard, and publication in the local media. The winner was…yours truly. Here’s a picture of me with the Hag (and others involved in the contest). Below is the essay.
“Why I’m American Proud”

As an American, I am privileged to live in a nation where freedom has flourished for over two centuries. The founders of the United States, following in the footsteps of their ancestors – those who traversed the Atlantic with difficulty for the sake of freedom – established this nation upon the precept of “liberty and justice for all.” Since the founding of this nation, millions of people have trekked from all over the planet – from the open plains of the Dark Continent to the reef laden shores of Australia, from the snow capped peaks of Europe to the steamy jungles of Asia, from the remote rainforests of South America to the teeming municipalities of North America, and from all the valleys and the villages in between – to experience the freedom, opportunity and prosperity offered in the United States. Coming from a host of nations, Americans have blended together like the threads of an exquisite tapestry.

During the last century, when tyranny has advanced and liberty has been overwhelmed, Americans have come to the aid of their global neighbors. My paternal grandfather proudly sailed the Pacific with thousands of others to release those under the oppression of the bushido blade. My maternal grandfather proudly flew over the skies of Europe with thousands of others to liberate those subjugated under the swastika. They were thanked by those they freed and returned home heroes, welcomed with tickertape parades and brass bands. A generation later, my father proudly served in the defense of freedom with thousands of others when conflict erupted in Asia. During a caustic time and a bitter war, there was little gratitude though there were thousands of heroes. They returned home, often despised and made to feel unwelcome in their own land. Now my time has come to proudly serve our great nation, taking my place with thousands of others in the defense of freedom and the advance of democracy. Like my father, I’m living in a caustic time and serving during a bitter war. Like my grandfathers, I’m living in a time when my fellow Americans realize the dangers braved, the losses faced, and the sacrifices given by our military members. Like millions of other Americans who have served their fellow citizens and citizens around the world, like my grandfathers and my father, I’m proud to serve as a member of the world’s finest military. I’m American proud.

Mr. Galyon stated why he is American Proud, and while I am very angry and concerned at the current situation of our country, this essay took me back to the time I was most proud to be an American.

After the first gulf war I was VERY Proud to be an American, the first 4 years after 9-11, I was proud to be an American, shortly after that, pride faded, liberals, liberal judges, and the media all played a part in my allowing ANGER, Frustration and Disgust to creep in to my life, and I have been railing ever since.

Criminal/Political/Judicial and Radical Islamic nutbaskets have been easy targets for rants because they offer so much to rant about…Oh well, WE still should be proud of what our nation has accomplished.

I can’t remember where I read it so forgive me for not mentioning the name of the author:

There has never been an age, where people looked back on history with disgust, and were totally thrilled with the present. (or something to that effect)

We are witnessing a political phenomenon with Barack Hussein Obama of rare magnitude. His speeches have inspired millions and yet most of his followers have no idea of what he stands for except platitudes of ‘Change’ or they believe him when he says he will be a ‘Uniter’.

The power of speech from a charismatic person truly can be a powerful thing. Certainly Billy Graham had charisma and his manner of speech, and particularly the content of that speech, changed the lives of untold millions.

On the extreme other hand, the charisma of Adolph Hitler inspired millions as well, and the results were catastrophic.

Barack Hussein Obama seems to radiate an aura of pure evil as he attempts to call upon the inspirational speaking styles of both Billy Graham and Adolf Hitler, and it makes me feel an almost primal fear every time I see this person, not a man to man fear but a deeper and much more spiritual fear, as if a pall of doom were being cast across America…

Here are just a few things that define Barack Hussein Obama:

– He voted against banning partial birth abortion.

– He voted no on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions.

– Supports affirmative action in Colleges and Government.

– In 2001 he questioned harsh penalties for drug dealing.

– Says he will deal with street level drug dealing as a minimum wage affair.

– Admitted marijuana and cocaine use in high school and in college.

– His religious convictions are very murky.

– He is willing to meet, unconditionally, with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

– Has said that one of his first goals after being elected would be to have a conference with all Muslim nations.

– Opposed the Patriot Act.

– First bill he signed that was passed was campaign finance reform.

– Voted No on prohibiting law suits against gun manufacturers.

– Supports universal health care.

– Voted Yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo detainees.

– Supports granting driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants.

– Supports extending welfare to illegal immigrants.

– Voted Yes on comprehensive immigration reform. Would result in 20 million instant citizens never having paid SS, many refusing to speak English, immediately sending for their 40 to 50 million extended relatives telling them not to wait and obey the laws, the once mighty USA is theirs for the taking.

– Voted Yes on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security.

– Wants to make the minimum wage a ‘living wage’.

– Voted with Democratic Party 96 percent of 251 votes.

– Opposed to any efforts to Privatize Social Security and instead supports increasing the amount of tax paid.

– He voted No on repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax.

– He voted No on repealing the ‘Death’ Tax.

– He wants to raise the Capital Gains Tax.

– Has repeatedly said the surge in Iraq has not succeeded.

– Has never served in the military and has never visited Afghanistan, and hasn’t bothered to visit Iraq since Jan. of 2006.

– He is ranked as the most liberal Senator in the Senate today and that takes some doing.

– Is a notorious gun grabber, he wants to completely disarm the American population and is a total supporter of ALL anti-gun legislation.

If your political choices are consistent with Barack Obama’s and you think that his positions will bring America together or make it a better place, then you will probably enjoy the ride and not re-post this message as we attempt to stop this poser from ascending to the Oval Office.

Well; I always thought Obama fit the Manchurian candidate mold. Now I know why.

If Obama was a Hollywood actor he’d get an Oscar for the way he manipulated all the lemmings on the way to the nomination. (he will be the Demorat representative) now it gets tough.

In the general election you need to answer some real questions to capture the Whitehouse, all the illegals, faggots, code pink supporters and far left libtards in the nation only make up 15 to 25% of the population, the rest are Center/left Democrats and Center/Right Republicans or Hardcore Conservatives with at least some measure of common sense. The truth will get out, no matter how much the media tries to hide it. The internet Al Gore invented (Sarcasm) will help to prevent this libtard Obama from being Big Pimp’n on Pennsylvania Ave.

VIENNA, Austria — Iran may be withholding information needed to establish whether it tried to make nuclear arms, the International Atomic Energy Agency said Monday in an unusually strongly worded report.

The tone of the language suggesting Tehran continues to stonewall the U.N. nuclear monitor revealed a glimpse of the frustration felt by agency investigators stymied in their attempts to gain full answers to suspicious aspects of Iran’s past nuclear activities.

A senior U.N. official familiar with the investigation into Iran’s nuclear program said none of the dozens of agency reports issued in that context had ever been as plain spoken in calling Tehran to task for not being forthright. He agreed to discuss the report only if granted anonymity because he was not authorized to comment to the media.

Iran has described its cooperation with the agency’s probe as positive, suggesting it was providing information requested by agency officials.

Ali Ashgar Soltanieh, Iran’s chief delegate to the IAEA, said as much again Monday, telling The Associated Press that the report described “the peaceful nature of our nuclear actions.”

“The Americans failed … in shameful attempts” to co-opt the agency into delivering anti-Iranian findings, he said.

I think this is ridiculous, it doesn’t matter what Iran does, the USA’s credibility is shot, so expecting anything from our leaders to derail this action by Iran is a waste of energy.

Luckily when Obama walks into the Whitehouse he will immediately open lines of communication with Iran and everything will be rosy. (/sarcasm)

Mexico’s northern border town of Juarez, infamous for its history of drug-related violence, has gone into lockdown after an e-mail began circulating warning of an unparalleled “bloodbath” in the coming days.

Shops, bars and restaurants have shut and soldiers are patrolling the streets, giving a surreal and dangerous tone to this city of 1.4 million people which sits just across the US border from the Texan town of El Paso.

And the open border crowd keeps touting “Amnesty” “No Fence” and other such bullshit.
I wonder how many of those folks actually live in Border states and are NOT Mexican? Just saying.
